Oil Storm (2005)
Now Rita will make this film reality!
21 September 2005
Well, well! Katrina tore up some of the US petrochemical industry, but now Rita is poised to deliver the killer blow, at least temporarily. What if 80% of U.S. production in the Gulf of Mexico is put out of commission for a month or more, including the Port of Houston as is portrayed in the film. Oil Storm is the quintessential example of art imitating life imitating art. While FOX's other "scare-mockumentaries" such as "Smallpox" haven't come true (thankfully), maybe it's time to say goodbye to the U.S. dependence on cheap fossil fuels, the same fossil fuels whose use may be to blame for the intensification of such storms as Katrina and Rita. Stay tuned, gentle viewer!
