Terror in the Night (1994)
Scary Movie That Keeps You Guessing
It was great to see Joe Penny in a different role as a bad guy who kidnaps a couple who are on their camping trip. Joe's character is scary and threatens the girl he kidnaps. He takes her along with his girlfriend and her kids, they are always on the run even more so now that there is a kidnap victim. The boyfriend tries to assist the police in finding his girlfriend and you feel his frustration when it seems they suspect his as the one who did something to her. Joe does great as the sort of guy who promises his girl that things will be better, they will get a house, etc. But as the story progress you feel he just cannot make these things happen. Great storyline for Joe Penny, a different but interesting role.
Family of Cops III: Under Suspicion (1999)
Great TV Movie
Although Joe Penny wasn't in the first movie of this "trilogy", he still brings the character to life as Ben Fein. Charles Bronson adds to the cast as a family of cops who try to keep the bad guys at bay. When they try to get to the Fein family Ben and his father try to find who is behind the killing of a local prominent business man and his wife. This is a great movie, shows that family comes first. Joe Penny and Charles Bronson both give great performances. The entire cast work well together. You can see the "family" aspect in many of the scenes especially where Ben and his sister discuss a decision she has made in her own life.
The Disappearance of Vonnie (1994)
True Story Brought To TV Movie
Another true story starring Joe Penny and Ann Jillian. When her sister disappears she tries to find out the truth. Joe's character as Ron Rickman is brought to life and he tries to make everyone believe he is the one that has been left, he doesn't know where she could be. When questioned he cannot produce evidence that he says has been left behind by his missing wife. Add to this that a little girl has been left without a mother and the father tries to get a little too close to the babysitter then the twists and turns keep you guessing as to who could have done this to a mother and wife. Joe performance once again speaks for itself. Ann Jillian does great as the sister. Jos also adds a fear factor with Ann's character when she tries to question him and get answers.
Double Jeopardy (1996)
Great True Story For TV
Joe Penny and Brittany Murphy are main characters in this true story. When a teenage girl develops feelings for an older man she doesn't realize what's in store for her and her family. Joe Penny portrays the police officer who doesn't care for the fact that Julia stands up for herself although he originally tells her so when they first meet. True stories like this are brought to life with Joe Penny in the main role and are worth the time to watch. You can feel & see the anger plus the frustration in Joe's character as the movie progresses. The families struggles with and question what has happened. A twist at the end lets you know that the trust is always the best. Great cast and excellent acting by Joe Penny.
Stranger in My Home (1997)
Excellent
Joe Penny does a great job in this movie. Playing the bad guy Joe gives another fantastic performance. Pretending to be the long lost brother Joe's character spins the web at every turn. He has to do whatever he can to "protect" his new life and brings even more trouble as the story line goes on.
For anyone who is a Joe Penny fan, if you haven't seen this one by all means watch it! Joe always does great no matter what character or story he is in and this is another one that speaks to his talent.
Veronica Hamill also does great as a lawyer who wishes to find her long lost brother. She thinks she has but what she doesn't realize is the trouble ahead when trusting someone who is not what they seem to be.
She Woke Up Pregnant (1996)
Great Storyline
Add Joe Penny to the cast and you will get a great movie worth watching. Joe plays a dentist whose patients trust him before, during and after treatment. When one patient questions a visit to this doctor and added to that the doctor tries to discredit her makes for a movie with twists and turns. Joe always makes the characters he plays very believable. Whether good or bad, Joe adds his talent to this movie once again. Bringing a character to life is what an actor is trying for and Joe delivers on this and more. If there is someone who can play a bad guy it is Joe Penny. Whether his character wins or loses, is nice or not so Joe always gives his best. One of the best actors who really knows his craft.
