Solo Leveling (2024– )

awesome.. simply awesome..
8 April 2024
I didn't read the manga.. but, I did listen to the audio books per a request from a friend, and I couldn't stop.. The story was soo well told, even by someone that wasn't all that "know." I listen to audio books going to sleep and I've probably listened to each of the books, aside from 7 and 8, 4-6 times each.. It's a comfort read now..

Then, I heard about this series and I was extremely excited, but skeptical. I don't consider myself a major anime fan, I do love Demon Slayer and Bleach, but I don't have a ton of experience.. But.. this anime is soo damn fun.. It's pretty much exactly what I imagined in my head..

My gosh it's fun.

Wow! So much fun!
24 February 2024
First off, thank GOSH this isn't anything CLOSE to the 2010 movie! Lol. Overall, Netflix, I thank you. This is about as close as you can get to live action vs animation. The small pitfalls, so far, are in regard to casting and some choices made to which characters to cast. Most of the Avatar audience, imo, have "grown up" by now but they still made a few casting choices that are for, well, the younger audience.

I didn't grow up watching the cartoon but I did find it and Korra about 6 years ago and absolutely LOVE the cartoons. So, going into this I was skeptical and hopeful. Imo, they delivered. This version does feel like a live action of the cartoon we all love. The feel of this is great. The CGI is absolutely awesome! Sokka, lmao, that was spot on casting. Same with Aang. Most of the acting and casting is really good. Katara, imo, falls a little short. Her acting is pretty dry tbh. It gets better at times and during others you can really feel her lack of experience.

Don't get me wrong guys, this isn't perfect. There are things to be nit picky about. But, comparing this to other failed live-actions, or live actions where they took their own liberties with it, this one feels like Netflix stayed true to the source material and I thank you for that! I can't wait for future seasons!!!

Kyoshi Island, wow! Lol.. I won't say any more. :)

I'm torn.. it had very little to do with the "twin exp" title but was still interesting in a variety of ways
13 January 2024
Ugh, I'm torn. I want to give this an 8 but the title is soo misleading. There's maybe 1 1/2 out of the episodes that focused on the experiment. Everything else had an "agenda," albeit a good agenda, imo.

The real show is about recognizing how "society," as I know it, has lost it's path when it comes to eating and raising meat and fish to eat. It's about even caged "free" chickens, farmed fish, bad beef, all of the things most of us Americans don't recognize. Even though I hear "don't eat farmed fish, caged chickens, etc" it goes above and beyond that, while all the while tapping into the healthiness of meat free diets, etc. I'm very grateful for it to be honest.

On the other hand, I feel it's false advertising to an extent. It's really not about the contestants, or very little about them. If they took that out of the title or put "you are what you eat AND small twin experiment," then I'd be ok. But, the experiment, is minimal, although, interesting in it's own worth.

Overall, I really did enjoy the show, but had to dock for it's misleading title.

very good watch..
10 December 2023
Listen, don't listen to the nay say'ers about the narrator. He's different, not your "normal" narrator and that's just fine. Humble your negative reviews, he does good. I never once thought about him until the negative reviews. Smh.

The documentary is very good. Very good from all "fronts." From the Nazi's, British, Japan's, American's, Poland's, Fance's, and so on.. I really really enjoyed the info as much as one can. Enough to binge on a weekend off but. Stay with it, it's a very good documentary. Don't let Netflix haters keep you from the information....

Wtf is up with IMDBs "too short" message though.. 2 paragraphs worth of review and it's still too short? Smh. Lol.

I give this an 8 for being a good action flick
11 August 2022
Shoot em ups aren't really at the top of their game right now, especially with Marvel taking over. But this was a good one. The acting was great! Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans were absolutely perfect for their roles. The script, for the most part, was really good as well. Then, of course, you have the Russo bros directing.

I'm into the Marvel scene so I get that these aren't as popular as they once were. But this is definitely worth the watch.

The Sandman (2022– )

some episodes are great, some not so much
9 August 2022
The guy who plays Sandman is great, along those that act along with him. Most of the "fantasy" stuff is spot on. But some of the casting is just OFF, which causes those episodes to lack.

When they're actually telling the story of Sandman everything moves along perfectly. But you don't know what you're going to get each episode. Some episodes move the story forward and some just fill like filler episodes. It veers off the main story quite often and turns into a how many LBGTQ people can we get into this production and can we make sure almost every couple is of mixed race or gay. I don't mind either but it ends up being something that the writer/director wants to make statements out the scenes rather than put most of the focus into the story that's being told.

wow, they HAD something here.
25 July 2022
I'm 3 episodes in and, for a drama, they REALLY had something special going on here. It's turning out to have quite a bit of comedy, which is fine... but, if they kept on the pace of the drama they were producing, it had the ability to separate themselves in the "fantasy" genre.

Aside from that, it's still a good series.

Better late than never!
16 July 2022
Just found this show, thank gosh! I was a fan of American Vandal as well, just to get that out of the way.

I'm not a huge gamer or anything but I do game a bit and I do love watching shows about different types of gaming. The King's Avatar, Memories of Alhambra, etc. And this, is probably the most authentic esports show I've come across. The script is great, the acting is flawless imo. It's a little exaggerated at times, Creamcheese obviously, but man it's a cool show.

Props to finding this!

gem of a show <3
10 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It's just a gem of a show. It's refreshing to find THIS in today's cinema world. They did such a great job, Attorney Woo did such a fantastic job.

It's just a fun, refreshing perspective. Props to the creator, writer, director, and actors! <3.

If it looks interesting to you then give it a shot! It's not for EVERYONE, but it's good for A LOT of us out here.

Whether you take the autism acting seriously or not (although, it's very good), there's a lot of heart behind this show and, it shines in both.

I don't want to spoil it so I'm not going into a lot of details in this review, I know. I could really go into details, but, not at this point, 4 episodes in. But it's a really good show that I had to review, at least a little bit. :)

Edit: Just keeps getting better every episode :)

Pleasantly surprised
14 June 2022
You know what, I was pleasantly surprised when I watched this. It popped up on my Chromecast and I went here to see what it was about. People recommended it so I thought I'd give it a watch, and I enjoyed it. It was low budget of course, 18 mil, and you could tell. But the story was enjoyable.

I won't tell you what the story reminds me of but you'll probably pick up on it as you get further into it. It had great locations! Great atmosphere. I love the "history" behind the ritual, etc. I thought the girl was slightly a bit too immature but I know they did that on purpose.

Anyhow, I'd give it a watch! It's not some grand breaking cgi kind of movie but the story is the basis and it actually watches pretty fast.

I hope you enjoy! :) Btw, if you do, there's a song that rolls through some of the end credits. There's a cute little scene at the end of that you might like as well. Lol.

100% watchable
29 May 2022
In a time where people are tired of the usual, I understand that people want "different." But, you know what you're getting with a Michael Bay film and, this film doesn't deserve the criticism.

Bay films aren't spot on accurate, perfect scripts, etc. They have good acting and BIG explosions. That's what this is. Actually, it's great acting, tense car chasing and BIG explosions.

It's really a decent watch when you go in just looking for some fun. The lead female actually surprised me with her acting, it was very good. Jake, of course. The rest of the cast was good too.

Don't review this MICHAEL BAY film expecting a life changing experience. It is what it is and it's something that I went in lightly and didn't want to turn it off.

I just listened to a Q&A with the Daniels (directors) and it was so great listening to the, sort of, back story to how this video was shot and WHY. Lol.

I absolutely love this video and the actors in it..

I agree with many of the reviews, wonderful show
29 April 2022
I can't comment on exactly how close to the Bible this is. What I do know is that they follow the biblical passages. Do they probably embellish a bit? Of course. Do they stray far from the bible? It doesn't feel that way. Does it make me feel closer to God? Actually yes, very much so, and that wasn't what I was trying to get out of this. I just wanted to see what the high ratings were about.

What I can say is, the script is absolutely fantastic, the acting is even better. The producers and director did an absolutely fantastic job with this show.

It's up to you to watch and decide for yourself.

Here's what it comes down to..
12 April 2022
If you're interested in Uber and it's CEO, then you are. If you're not, you're not.

That's basically what this comes down to. Joseph Gordon Levitt is JGL, he's fantastic. The acting is great, etc.

The script is good, the story is .. well, again, "good" if you're into it and "not good" if you're not. I didn't know much about Uber and the crap that the Uber CEO pulled, went through, etc. So, I found this show quite entertaining! It's a hollywood version of the events that went down with him leaving the company he, for the most part, built.

But, in the end, it's a very entertaining watch IF you are interested in this story. Everything (the script, acting, story, etc) is great if you are. If you want to watch a 7 episode story about Uber as a startup until 2017 when Travis Kalanick left, then you're the prime audience. If you don't give a rats a$$ then....

I enjoyed it even though I didn't give a rats a$$ about the CEO.

an awesome concept that rewards it's viewers with a great show!
11 April 2022
I saved reviewing this until I finished with the finale and wow, yeah, what a great season 1, I loved it!

The concept is extremely fresh, you get to know and like all of the characters, you get invested, and, even though it's fairly "slow-paced," it never feels like it. It really was well thought out and presented. I cannot wait for season 2, it can't happen soon enough.

I absolutely recommend this!

major flaws but overall an ok watch
10 April 2022
Look, don't expect anything in this to be realistic, in fact go into this without any expectations aside from "bad" and you might find this enjoyable enough like I did.

The problem for me is that it has major flaws, unnecessary flaws given the runtime. They don't set up any time to get to know and love the characters. The script is maybe average at best which doesn't help with the acting. While the movie is already unrealistic enough, they seem to include nonsense in this as well that I don't know how it made it through the editing.

What helped was having John Bradley in this, and he was just as enjoyable in this as he was as "Sam" in GoT.

Ignore the hate and watch it for yourself
26 March 2022
I'm not your diehard Halo guy. I respect the Halo world, I loved the games when they first came out, and then moved on. Keep in mind, this is NOT based on any specific story lines of the games. It's based in the Halo UNIVERSE/world.

On that note, it was VERY good imo. I can't wait for the upcoming episodes. There's a nice mix of brutality, humanity, drama, and acting, and the Spartans are pretty darn badda$$.

Keep 'em comin!

Thank you Jackass! Such a classic staple of early 21st century cinema in the USA. Lol.

That was, once again, FUN!

Completely caught me off guard! I had no interest in this, wasn't a fan of Peacemaker previously. But wow, man, am I glad I rolled with this! Cena actually does a terrific job, Gunn's writing and directing is spot on.

Terrific show!

I really enjoyed this one!
7 February 2022
In my opinion, it's not as "slow" as others are saying. I enjoyed most everything about this, so I never felt this slow pacing. If you're bored, yes, it'll be slow. But, it's more about the story than it is about the action. It's not "dances with wolves" slow, it's just not action packed. But a very cool watch either way! Easy enough to sit through again.

This is what Hollywood is missing these days
19 January 2022
This could obviously be made into a Hollywood big "blockbuster" with millions into CGI, big name, expensive actors, etc. But nope, this movie came with an 8 mil dollar budget. It's got great acting, good cgi, and more importantly, heart and humanity. Everything a good film needs to succeed. Hollywood wonders why it struggles, well take notes.

A very good watch.

* * * My only wish is that they spent about 10-15 more minutes developing on screen an even MORE "loving" relationship between the family involved so the emotion hits even harder. But that's just me being picky.

actually turned out different than I thought, which was a good thing..
27 November 2021
It's a decent show, I liked it. It was pretty darn brutal though, which got tiring (for me) at times, never boring though. Then, by the end, what I thought would, or might, happen, didn't, and I'm really looking forward to season 2 now. It's a bit cheesy in the very beginning but that passes, and you can really tell that they put a lot of money into the effects.

It's definitely not for everyone but it does have a good payoff for those that stick with the 6 episodes.

some of the best acting I've seen
22 September 2021
Regardless of the plot, subject matter, etc, this was overall some of thee best acting I've ever seen. Keep in mind I'm disregarding the VIPs lol. But this movie is making me feel things I absolutely did not expect at all going into this, lol. I feel "truth" from almost every main cast member. Honestly, it's a brilliant performance and, if it were a movie and shot to be a movie, I'd see it making waves in American mainstream similar to Train to Busan. A+++ to the actors, wow, the character arcs in this are awesome to watch.

darn, it's too bad... like someone else mentioned, it WAS shallow.
23 August 2021
Someone here said that the movie was "shallow." Although I really feel for the hardcore GI Joe fans, I am not, so the movie was average to me. It was your very basic semi action movie where you might only like one or two of them, but unfortunately none are the lead and none are that deep. I feel like this was one of those movies where 10 years down the road they're going to look back and go "wtf?" and remake it. Hopefully.

They really had a chance to tackle one of the coolest characters ever. A chance to explain why he is what he is, where he came from, how he feels, etc. Unfortunately, all of that lasts all of about 15 min of the film. They had a chance to really explain the origins of a badass character, but unfortunately again, they didn't.
