Asur: Welcome to Your Dark Side (2020)
STRICTLY AVOID : 5 Hours of life you will never get back!
After a few recommendations from friends and family I decided to give this series a try (against my Gut). I come from a background of having watched crime thrillers like True Detectives (season 1), Mind Hunter, Broad Church etc.
To tell you the truth I ACTUALLY had some expectations from Asur having seen the trailer and some other promotional material. But as it turns out, this series FAILS in all possible departments of movie making.
Story: To start with the plot could have been a bit promising. But as it unfolds, you can't help but think that the writer just ran out of ideas and used mediocre cliches by joining unimaginable dots. The story lacks focus and goes all over the place by getting into unrelated incidents. The plot starts failing by the end of first episode itself.
The Script: the script is riddled with juvenile errors. The characters are full of cliches and would keep on punching expected lines with no effect. Like for eg. one Character will all the time keep swearing in Hindi, another guy always keeps giving fundas on tech mastery etc.
Direction : The lesser said about this department better it is. The director tries to keep the plot fast moving but fails to do so. At best it feels like the longest running series 'CID' in most respects, except I think 'CID' did a tad better job of it over the years😋
Casting : it think if I had to compare, this would be the worst department of all. Arshad Warsi as a central character Is not believable and seems disinterested. Barun Sobti Takes the cake. His dialogue delivery is muffled and isn't audible. We had to put in Hindi Subtitles to make sense of what he was saying. He is mostly devoid of any emotions and tries to shout/swear at times to get out of rut. I really wonder how they got him for that role. Ameya Wagh is the only character that puts life in his role a bit. But since the characterisation is so weak, he hardly gets a chance to takeoff. Lesser said about the rest of the characters better it is.. they look like the third or fourth tier wannabes sitting in those Lokhandwala cafes.
All in all Asur lacks in all departments big time. I watched it beyond first episode just coz I was curious about how bad it could get further. I am still to come across a quality Hindi Crime thriller as of now and I think the wait will continue for a long time..
Summary: STRICTLY AVOID.. Fails in all possible departments..
Rampaat (2019)
Appalling..!
I am surprised that in today's day and age when some meaningful movies with great content are making a cut, this kind of rubbish intent still exists.
The movie virtually has no storyline leave alone the appalling script. The performances are way below par.. at time you feel putting people on mute and asking them if it was necessary to accept the role.
Ofcourse the director is completely absent from the movie throughout. I feel pity that a producer accepts to put his money in such projects. Mighty disappointed.
22 Jump Street (2014)
Are the ratings for real?!
I am going to keep it short. The movie lacks all the aspects of film making. And its not even funny!! I went to see the movie based on the IMDb rating it got.. But realise how fictitious these ratings are.. I have now realised that these ratings start making sense once the movie got much older. Superman is a prime example of that..
I pity people who like this crap and wonder their sense of understanding a movie..
Jonah Hill.... What a waste..
Channing Tatum.. What a stone..
Queen Latifa.. What were you doing??
