Halloween Kills (2021)
Bullseye!!!
After a mediocre 2018 installment this is exactly what the doctor ordered.
Ignore the negative reviews and give it a go. You'll definitely get more than you money's worth of kills, spills, laughs and much more.
I left the cinema thoroughly satisfied and eagerly waiting for the next one.
I'll Get You for This (1951)
Another book to movie conversion gone astray.
James Hadley Chase, among other writers, was well renowned for his ability to capture the readers attention from the beginning to end in all of his crime-thriller novels. That is where the difficulty sets in, can the director and crew capture the same in the movie? The story starts off with the arrival of an American gambler (Nick-George Raft) at a Mediterranean town of San Paola. Soon he gets acquainted with Kay (Coleen Gray) and finds himself framed for a murder, forcing him to go on the run with her. So far so good yet this is the turning point of the movie. Instead of going the edge of your seat 'why and who?' it turned into mediocrity. Overall, had the potential to be a great movie and could have rivaled movies like The Fugitive (1993) had a bit more suspense/tension been pumped into the screenplay and other movie making aspects.
The Entity (1982)
One of the top ten in horror/suspense.
If your idea of horror is having Mr.X going around with a machete hacking people to pieces then I would suggest stay away from this title as you would not find any gore or guts in it. For psychological horror fans turn off the lights and get ready for a creepy experience. The setup doesn't take long as we see Carla Moran (Barbara Hershey), mother of four, being sexually assaulted by some invisible entity.
Suspense mounts quickly as she seeks help from a rather skeptical team of psychiatrists who in no time become just as baffled. One of the factors that adds value is the mystery surrounding the 'entity' as the investigative team try and uncover who or what it is.
Wait, that's not all, the tension leading to the climax is unbearable when the team decide to capture the entity. I would not reveal any more and would add that what gives the movie more weight is that it is allegedly based on true events. Be it true or false, you be the judge, but one thing is for certain: this movie will stay in your mind long after you've watched it.
