Jurassic World (2015)
The Transformers virus is infecting action movies
I'm a little biased when I come to analyze sci-fi movies and that says a lot when a movie catches my attention not only for the awesome but also for the bad things in it. It's a little sad that the franchise lost its seriousness to fall for the common-too-jocular strategy to gain the common viewer. Don't get me wrong, I love it when the script has jokes on it, it's playfully good experience. But it needs to have a good timing. It can't fall on the cliché to the mass, to the Transformers viewers' pleasure. There must be coherence and in-movie "likelihood" (because outside to inside likelihood, hmm, not so much applicable in sci-fi). There can't be a kiss whilst a bunch of people are being eaten right next to you by flying dinos. And while you have a huge chance of being eaten too. I mean, priorities, right? There can't be an anti-climax scene that breaks T-Rex's spotlight (OK, OK, she was stronger, but Mosasaurus was not even part of the fight). To be honest, the most thrilling parts were the ones that showed the functional park. I died a little every time I saw the attractions and thought to myself that I could watch a whole movie with no plot but to show a theoretical prehistoric park. God. Don't get me wrong, the movie is awesome. I love its purely good entertainment factor, but there's a but. It could have been the best of the franchise. It could have been my favorite action sci-fi. It could have. It isn't.
