His Only Son (2023)
Great movie for such a small budget
It is amazing what was able to be accomplished with a budget of $250,000 to produce this movie. There are definitely some pro's and con's that come with a limited budget though.
Pro: The director did an amazing job keeping to the story of the Bible and even the creative licensing taken did not detract from the truth of the story.
Con: Many times the camera seemed focused on the background rather than the characters which made several scenes very blurry or out of focused.
Pro: The visual effects where better than I would have expected for a movie on a shoe string budget.
Pro: The area filmed in seemed authentic to what the world would have been like walking through the desert.
Con: Sometimes the dialog was hard to understand
Con: The story was somewhat slow, especially at the beginning, but it is understandable that the story can't be all action.
Pro: I went away satisfied with going to watch the movie in the theater and it was a great way to fellowship with other Christians in the area.
I hope that the profit that will be made from this movie and more crowdfunding will allow "Jacob" to come to life and will continue to improve the quality of this directors films.
I Heard the Bells (2022)
Excellent Film for Families
Excellent movie. My children have been learning about Henry W. Longfellow at school this year. They have studied both "Paul Reveres Ride" and "I Heard the Bells". My children are in 9th, 8th, 4th, and 2nd and sat through the movie with great interest in what was on screen because of what they had learned in school. Even if you aren't a religious or faith person, this movie is worth the watch. The attention to the detail of the Victorian Era was exquisite. The acting was spot on. I will warn you, it is a tear jerker, so be sure to bring some tissues.
It was definitely refreshing and so good for a studios first movie production. I look forward to future films from this company.
Nacho Libre (2006)
What did I just watch
So I am a youth pastor and am part of several youth group communities on social media. Ever month or two people ask for a good movie to watch with their youth group that is entertaining and clean and Nacho Libre gets thrown out there every time, by several people, and not always the same people... I had never watched it and wanted to know what was so endearing about this movie to so many people that work with teenagers. So I finally watched it...
It was slow, the story seemed just made up as they went, the action wasn't very exciting, the comedy was not very funny (I laughed maybe once the whole movie), it was just a mess of a movie and I fail to see how it was endearing at all.
My kids watched the movie and the only part they found funny was the times of farting...
Sorry, it just wasn't very good, but I'll give it two starts because at least it wasn't raunchy humor.
Audacity (2015)
Truth with compassion!
This movie was excellent. Anytime a person speaks out against a major issue of the day no matter how religious on none religious they might be they will be looked at in a negative light. Most people probably figured Ray Comfort would come out all Westboro Baptist Church like hating "gays" and bashing them to pieces; however, what we got was a person who has a passion and compassion when it comes to even the hard issues. Ray comfort reaches out to people with a genuine love and care. He takes and shows that all people are inherently sinful and just because we are born with a will to sin doesn't mean we should embrace it. Love can't stay silent.
