Oswald (2001)
Oswald is beautiful and soothing
We have only recently discovered this lovely children's show and I am very disappointed to find out it was canceled. What a perfect show for children, I am surprised it hasn't won more awards or acclaim. All the colors and animations are simply and brightly colored. The characters are gentle and well spoken. The world they inhabit is imaginative. The music is perfect. Oswald, the main character, is a large octopus much possessed of patience and kindness.
My three year old retains so much from this show I was surprised. She even remained her favorite toy "Catrina" after the baby butterfly. She normally doesn't pay much attention to many shows. If you are looking for a quiet, kind show for your child, I can't recommend it enough.
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (1973)
Creepy Creepy
After i saw this when i was little I couldnt sleep for weeks! The ending was very startling. I am glad so many other people remember this movie as well. No other movie affected me so much and put me so definitely down my path of loving horror movies. I hope it comes out of DVD
Wrong Turn (2003)
Just had FUN
Its been a long time since I had so much fun at the movies. My showing had plenty of audience participation and instead of being annoying had everyone in the theater laughing and cheering and at times screaming. This movie was enjoyable because it brings back the days of gore ie. Texas chainsaw massacre, which it will most likely be compared to the most. There was no need for a big convoluted plot, they left you enough information to figure out why everything happened, there was non stop action, some likeable heros and some that the audience in my showing cheered for when they died. The villains were vile and unlikeable and yet almost comical at times. If you are going in to see a horror masterpiece you ll be disappointed but if you go in with the idea of enjoying a fast paced, gore filled canibal time with teenagers in the woods running and screaming you will have a great time. Plus Elizabeth Dushku was great.
Bichunmoo (2000)
Romance, Martial arts, can't go wrong?
well maybe if the storyline made a little bit more sense. I enjoyed this movie considerably. The story is very confusing, but if you watch it 5 times it starts to make more sense. The cinematography is beautiful the colors are wonderful, red is a theme running throughout the entire movie. The costuming was great except in one scene where I'd swear the aggressor was using a toy sword from KB Toys. Also, as a previous comentator on the IMDB pointed out, the hero does have an unusual nose, which I found myself staring at more than watching the movie at times. I don't see any reason for people to compare this film to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon except they are both asian martial arts films. Truth be told, I liked Bichunmoo much more. But then, I like a thrilling romance that goes right to my heart.
