Colm during the storm.
23 January 2005
The best of Steven King's work on film or made for TV. Colm Feore is amazing. It is long, due to the need for character development, but never slow and it is impossible to predict. The dialog is terrific and the atmosphere is genuinely unsettling and claustrophobic. But it is the black eyed Feore that takes this to another level. With his long meditative silences interrupted by stinging verbal attacks that bring to light the town's peoples darkest secrets and his vague mantra "Give me what I want and I'll go away", he is the definition of menacing.

The one thing that surprised me about the screenplay, that was written by Mr. King, was a glaring historical inaccuracy. Roanoke Island is located in North Carolina and not Virginia.

Different Dress/What's with the porn?
5 January 2004
Audrey Hepburn wearing two dresses in the same scene and three scenes depicting the making of SNUFF films that have absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the film. NOTHING!!!! A pitiful film made by lazy film makers! In 1979 it was the worst film I'd ever seen and 24 years later nothing has changed.

Great Film

A towering piece of work. The films of Rossellini and De Sica are like prayers. As Italy wakes up from it's nightmare, these simple films help people to rediscover their humanity. The importance of these films cannot be overstated.
