Wanbyeokhan Gyeolhonui Jungseok (2023)
Missed its potential
If you have time and usually enjoy revenge and romance dramas, this show will definetely be entertaining. I was hooked for the first two episodes but after episode 4, it lost its dynamic.
Like most of the shows, the script was too weak. There were many missed potentials but somehow script writers chose their characters to be two dimensional. The best part was they did not drag the love between ML and FL too much. However after their honeymoon, they suddenly started to act like an old couple that are married for 50 years.
The step mother was described as a perfect textbook villain. All black but no grey features. The story of ML's brother, his story and actions were very promosing at the start but writers again chose to make him a two dimensional villain like the step mom. The actor had great chemistry with FL's evil sister and I expected more in their story.
The chemistry between ML and FL was the best thing in the show and made this show more enjoyable.
The Crown (2016)
Season 1-2: Absolute Perfectness, Season 3-4: So So, Season 5-6: Mediocre
I just completed all 6 seasons of the Crown. I still miss the superb and detailed script and acting of Seasons 1 & 2.
However by Season 3 the script and the casting are both getting worse. Especially Olivia Colman's interpretation as the queen was a lady, who is too rigid, unhappy and negative. I expected to see much more versatile script and acting. There are some very good episodes but overall these two seasons are mediocre at best.
By Season 5-6, all things focus on Princess Diana. I understand she is very popular and made a huge impact on many people but focusing on her entirely is a bit too much. There are many movies and series solely on her. We focused on her all 4 episodes of Season 6. In reality only first two episodes should be enough. We saw nothing new after the death of Princess Diana. Even the episode on the last year of Princess Margaret was sloppy. It seems that we all know wrong and the Queen only had one son, the others are never existed.
We do not expect this show to be realistic like a documentary, we get that but overall because this is The Crown and we all saw what this show can do in the first two seasons. So it is understandable that we expected more.
Maybe the show should just end with the death of Princess Diana.
After 1997, the show tells us nothing. It seems that no economic crisis, wars, problems occur after this date.
The only good thing about these two seasons are the casting especially Princess Diana and Princess Margaret.
I am sorry this superb show ended with this sloppy season.
Daily Dose of Sunshine (2023)
"Real patients do not go to psychiatrists, only the people who are made sick by the real patients do".
Mental health problems are still a taboo in many parts of the world. It was a breath of fresh air to see a show dealing with it.
The script is good but I feel like the severe depression of the female lead happened a bit sudden. She was very cheerful and happy in oone episode and then suicidal in the next. Her co-workers inability to recognize her severe depression is also not very belivable since they all work in a psychiatry department.
Among the patient stories I emphatize a lot on the office worker who is a victim of his superior's mobbing. It is very heartbreaking to see that his superior is got away with this and his co-workers did nothing to prevent it as exactly the same happens in the real world.
I guess it a universal rule that "Real patients do not go to psychiatrists, only the people who are made sick by the real patients do".
One of the best parts of this show is Lee Jung Eun as the Head Nurse Song. I have watched her in other series and each time her acting is superb. I enjoyed every second she was on the screen.
Remarriage & Desires (2022)
Very engaging and fun to watch
The pilot episode is so good, totally hooked from the first moment.
The art direction and costumes are fabulous and very enjoyable to watch.
This drama is 8 episodes but it should be at least 12 episodes. Many characters' developments are simply missing and inadequate.
The weakest link in this drama is the female lead. Her character is boring, blunt and superficial. In the end she did nothing in the story. We do not understand why she is named as the key character and why two quite impressive men will be interested in her. Everything about her story is superficial, even her past story with the second male lead is underdeveloped. Unfortunately she also has zero chemisty with both male leads.
The total opposite is the villain of this story. She is a delight to watch in every moment, Her story is much more deep and at times we can even understand her motives. The actress who played the villain has made a fantastic job with her character.
Overall it is a fun and enjoyable watch but it feels like it missed the opportunity to be much more.
Melloga Chejil (2019)
Surprisingly good start but poor development
This drama has the best pilot episode ever. I was totally hooked from the first moment. It has really smart, fun and realistic dialogues. It may become a masterpiece but after episode 10, it loses its dynamism and loose its pace. The script was so promising and it can be a materpiece but lost this chance because of poor script development.
Somehow I see many dilemmas in this show: there are many realistic and very smart everday life dialogues and events but also there are a few very unrealistic ones. The story of the character who lost her fiancee is one of them. A person who tried to kill herself and having halucinations of her dead fiancee for over two years, never gone to a psychiatrist and all her friends and family is ok with that? Then in the end she miraculously cured herself? The other one is the intern's toxic relationship. From the very beginning we saw his girlfriend's toxicity and betrayal. Then in the last episode we hear comments from his boss that he is the real toxic one and in the end they may rekindle that toxic relationship. This ending is not believable.
In the end it is very delightful watch which is quite different from many stereotype dramas that we see. However it feels that this show could be better overall.
