Failure to Protect (2023)
Highly recommended
Finally a film that shows the other side of Child Welfare-a side, until now, which has largely been hidden from public view. Kudos to Jeremy Pion-Berlin for shining a light on the system that so many insiders experience every day, yet not too many outside the system are privy to. We often hear about the mismanagement and blunders of CPS agencies, but this documentary takes the viewer inside and in real time. Very well executed.
This award winning film is intelligent, powerful, and heartbreaking. In addition, this ground breaking body of work is revered by experts in the field. Good job Jeremy Pion-Berlin.
Fight to Survive (2023)
Husband made me watch, but I found it entertaining
When the players themselves got played (referring to the very unlikeable, aggressively manipulative bullies Missy and Amal), I have to admit I thought that was poetic justice. I would mix up the challenges for the next round of shows-survival test; physical challenge; mental challenge versus the grip strength/brut strength maneuver that decided everyone's fate.
I loved the host; he was lively and respectful towards all. The location/scenery was beautiful and a good choice. I would also add a vote at home option too (perhaps the home audience could vote to save a player here and there) or give them clues as to where they can find survival gear or rations.
