American Conspiracy: The Octopus Murders (2024)
Involving and interesting
I feel some of the low reviews I've read are a bit harsh in my PoV - the point of this documentary I feel is not to provide answers, it's to shed light on hypotheses, and show a process.
If you are looking for answers to conspiracy theories, then perhaps this is not for you. If you are more likely to be intrigued by what the theories are, why they exist and how they are investigated then I think this is an interesting and thought-provoking watch.
I feel gratitude to the investigative journalists that spend their time trying their best to objectively investigate compelling leads while not pretending to have all the answers. Not everything ends with with fluffy kittens and clouds.
Who Killed Jill Dando? (2023)
Coverage of the investigation only
Another documentary drawn out in Netflix's typical style these days. I agree with the prior comment about whether it was an average investigation or average documentary. I'm going to go with both.
This doco offered no depth in area nor canvassed possible hypotheses to any meaningful extent. It was merely a retrospective of the investigation and honestly, it isn't worth a watch unless you're on a plane or similar with three hours to kill.
When you recall these events and see there's a doco, you have hope maybe new leads might come if it. I cannot see that happening as a result of this documentary and thus for me it's another example of Netflix cashing in.
