Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023)
Highly recommend everybody go see this movie I promise you gone have a great time!!
I love how the director Jeff Rowe, Producers Seth
Rogen, Even Goldberg, & James Weaver fully invested in exploring the teenage part of the ninja turtles. It made the idea special as it separated from the other movies & bought it way more life. As we're watching teenagers age and try to navigate in a world they're fascinated by the human lifestyle but having to juggle the fact that society won't accept them as they are mutant turtles. Did a lot of referencing current events/ teenage slang in the dialogue which made the characters more appealing & it made it more relatable to how a real teens act, so I admire how they obviously took time to communicate with teenagers to achieve this result. This is a type of movie you can watch years later and enjoy the nostalgia because of how many references they did on current events of our era. I thought the cinema-photography was beautiful. They did a great job upgrading the characters making some of them bad*ss. Last but not least as ALWAYS Ice Cube brought his charisma to superfly adding amazing value to the movie !!
Joy Ride (2001)
"I'm on a highway to hell!"
I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. Simple premise, very straightforward story that had lots of Intense suspenseful scenes that keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time.
Something that started off as benign joke between two brothers turns in a nightmare quick. I think the two leads did pretty good job & it's a distance amount of character development where you get invested just enough to genuinely care about what happens to them.
(Lewis) is the younger brother but yet more mature & level headed as the older brother (fuller) inferior irrational one who seems like he's struggling to get his life together. The common misconception is that with age comes a level of maturity but that's not the case, But I love his enthusiasm through out the whole film & he had some non-intentional funny moments.
I think the movies does a great job at not fully revealing the man identity in the truck, pretty much keeping it a mystery which adds to the eeriness .
With that being said I do have some negatives to express about the film. Some directions they took wasn't logical like how was this man able to follow them around in the this era where we didn't have technology?? Was trying my hardest to make sense of it & the first conclusion I came up with was that he was able to trace them through the radio but at one point fuller threw the radio out the car 😭 so that left me puzzled. Or after the near death experience the first time why they ain't report it to the cops like this movie could've really been over in 46 minutes but of course they gotta figure out a way to keep the story going .
Elemental (2023)
Elements don't mix!
Elemental smooth 8/10. I've always been a big fan of Pixar since a little kid & I just love how they always find ways to add heartfelt emotional elements with relatable real life lessons where you can learn something that leaves a big impact on us the viewers. Also even tho it's animation kids movie it cater towards adults too!!
On top of that you add some great voice actors who play fire/water exceptionally well. I just love both of their character acre as they grow, learn from each other & end up creating a beautiful connection .
Only thing I can really say that's kinda negative about the movie is certain parts of the storytelling & certain characters was murky at times. They never fully explain but regardless I love the movie & one of my favorites so far this year !
The Flash (2023)
Movie wasn't interesting with horrible CGI
This is the worst movie I've seen all year, it didn't live up to any of the hype it had being one of the most anticipating films this summer. I was so excited for this movie being that the flash is one of favorite superheroes But I find myself disappointed... Let's start off with how bad the CGI was, the scene with the lady & the babies falling from the building was laughable because it didn't look real at all it felt like I was watching a bad cartoon.
Dialogue was bad, a lot of the jokes they tried felt like they was trying too hard & fell pretty flat I didn't laugh once... Ezra Miller don't work for me as the flash he isn't appealing enough but maybe it's just because the movie underutilized him or what but it's a NO for me.
Very confused on what was going on for most of the movie. It was like a last minute project u put together but it's sloppy & rushed. THE one thing I can say I like was watching Micheal Keaton play as Batman again, visual effects & camera shots were pretty good along with some good actions scenes .
The Blackening (2022)
Hilarious movie with basic horror.
Had a great time with the movie & very crowd pleasing experience. The whole cast had great chemistry it really feel like they are friends outside this movie.
Loved the different horror icon cameos they referenced. The jokes was hilarious, it does a great of playing off the black tropes & stereotypes but I wish they could've did a better job of balancing out the comedy/ horror because the horror aspect was as basic as it can be in this movie & I felt like they could've been more creative with the kills.
IT gets very predictable early on with who is the killer & they motivation was trash but that didn't take away. From my viewing experience too much. It knows what kinda movie it's tryna be. Definitely one of funniest horror/ comedy's to come out in a long time with that genre of movies being extinct nowadays but I highly recommend going to see this with your friends in a pack theater.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)
Definition of a perfect movie!
Spectacular visuals & stunning art style to this movie, It had my eyes glued the screen from start to finish! I love the creative approach to make the graphic effects capture the tone in the atmosphere . Mostly every character felt relatable with what issue they had going on, understanding everybody point of view & that what makes it just feel real. You think you know what you getting yourself into watching spider-Man but they do it to where you know nothing it leaves you stocked & surprise by the creativity!
The movie almost 2 hours & 30 minutes long but the pacing was great & I found myself sad at the end because I never wanted the movie to end. It was a special experience.
The Little Mermaid (2023)
Overall good theater experience & one you should check out with the family .
Left me start off by saying I went into this movie completely unbiased as someone who never really seen the first movie & had a pleasant time with this film. Halle Bailey did amazing job casting as Ariel with her curious childlike charm & her tender voice, it was like she was born for this role! The whole casting crew did a good job with what they had to work with.
David Diggs as Sebastian the crab was entertaining & funniest. Also think Melissa McCarthy did a really good job, didn't really know what to expect from her because some of her recent work from different movies have been very hit or miss for me.
Couple of things that didn't work well with the film was CGI visuals. It was like a rollercoaster the lighting was too dark In some parts of the movie but visuals gets better as it progress. Most of the sea animals looked too artificial & their movements. Some of the musical performances fell flat. I felt like this movie was a little too long & definitely could've been trimmed down .
