Not that bad
11 March 2013
Skipping through the sat channels the other night I stumbled across this movie and thought I might give it a look. Having seen the original Billy Jack a few years back I figured it might be worth a few laughs if it was anything like the original. To my surprise it was much better then the first film. It had some decent scripting and Laughlin is not that bad an actor, especially when working with a seasoned veteran like E.G. Marshall. Despite a somewhat contrived plot the movie did get it's point across showing the corruption in Washington and how one man can make a difference. The movie is no Mr. Smith goes to Washington, but then Laughlin is no Jimmy Stewart and for that matter Jimmy is no Billy Jack.

A BS Production
22 May 2012
The opening credits say that it is a BS production and that is certainly correct. Just another in a long line of movies slamming the evil old U.S. for nuking Japan and calling for a complete elimination of nuclear weapons from the face of the earth. Well I've got a newsflash for Mr. Ryan, it ain't going to happen. Do this genius really think that the likes of North Korea and Iran are going to stop their nuclear ambitions if the rest of the world does it first? Like it or not the nuclear genie is out of the bottle and there is no putting it back.

This film is worth a few laughs though. The best is when they say that during the Cuban missile crisis John Kennedy made the statement that if the situation was not handled carefully, 200 million people could die. Not likely since at this time the population of the entire U.S. was less than 200 million and the missiles in question did not have sufficient range to reach much further than some east coast cities.

Decide for yourself
16 March 2012
Please don't let the minority of negative reviews keep you from watching this excellent documentary. It presents a prime example of what big business will do to protect their massive wealth.

The naysayers will tell you to ignore this film and instead depend on the internet to discover the facts about Burzynski and his alleged breakthrough in cancer treatment. I advise you to do both and make up your own mind. The internet should never be someones only resource in obtaining the facts about a particular subject. Anyone who believes that every bit of information found on Wikipedia is complete and the absolute truth is being very naive.

There is one fact presented by the documentary that cannot be ignored. If Burzynski's cancer treatment was a scam had no validity why then did the pharmaceutical industry resort to deceptive tactics and patent infringement to steal it from him? Watch the movie, check the facts, and decide for yourself.

Classic Eastwood?
17 June 2009
Warning: Spoilers
In the commentary, Eastwood states that it had been four years since he starred in a movie and that he hadn't planned on acting again until he read the script for Gran Torino. After seeing the movie, I think Clint should have stuck with his original plan.

In one of the promo's for the movie, the tag line is "Classic Eastwood". I guess this begs the question, what is classic Eastwood? He is a very versatile actor and except for a few clinkers like, Paint your Wagon, he has proved that he can easily handle a wide range of parts and they are all "classic Eastwood" in their own way.

I guess my disappointment with GT is the shift from his patented tough guy that gets justice for the weak type character, to a man finding himself close to death, and choosing to sacrifice himself without a fight. The whole "getting justice without a fight" is a noble premise, but in reality the gang members were probably going to receive a 20 year sentence, and be out in 5 to finish what they started.

Speaking for myself, if Clint starts out as "Dirty Harry" in a movie, he needs to finish that way.
