Gabriel (2007)
one word: boring
I watched this primarily because i was curious about the attempt to make such a movie on a relatively low budget. If only the script was better! Maybe the writer/director thought it would be moody to draw out so many of the scenes as he does and to keep dialogue to a minimum. But it isn't, it's simply boring. And strange that the little dialogue there is manages to be so pretentious and cliché.
A better, more fully developed plot is needed. It would also help if it made sense. Instead it's drivel pretending to be something profound. Awful and boring. I nearly fell asleep and had to keep stopping the film to watch other things before attempting to watch it again. I'd hoped the ending would somehow save it. It doesn't.
Awfully boring.
Moose TV: Foreign Film (2007)
A Waste of Time & Talent
For the second time, i tried to watch an episode of Moose TV. The first time, i missed the beginning so i gave it the benefit of the doubt. This time i was determined to watch the whole thing. What an effort. The writing is terrible and most of the cast seems to think that overacting will compensate fore the lack of anything resembling humour. It's the least funny comedy series i've seen in ages. Maybe ever. I didn't laugh once during the whole show. I squirmed a lot, thought "what were you thinking Adam Beach?!" a lot, pried my fingers off the remote control a lot because changing the station was extremely tempting. It was a huge effort to watch the entire, dreadfully unfunny episode but i tried because Adam Beach is tremendously talented and i support what he does. But i'm honest about all of his projects (some of which are great & some of which are 2nd rate) and frankly, this one isn't worthy of him. He deserves to be working at a higher level all of the time. Let's hope that he refuses to do any new episodes and that Moose TV dies a quiet death. It's really that bad.
