Muhtesem Yüzyil (2011)
Pure Rubbish!
I started watching this thinking it had some historical accuracy. The entire series was a soap opera with catty woman fighting to get into the Sultan's bed. I watched until episode 15 and finally decided not to waste anymore time. Unfortunately, some will watch this series and think it's based on fact and that's just shameful. You would think with all the money spent on making a film, it would at least have some accuracy. Shameful to say the least. The acting was ok except for Meryem Uzerli. Not sure if it was intentional, but her turkish was just awful. Her acting skills made it even harder to watch.
Çocuk (2019)
Ending ruined!
I loved this series up until episode 15 then it went downhill. . The concept was great, the actors were really good, but the ending was completely ruined. Episode 16-17 was an absolute waste of time and the last episode was rushed. What happened to Murat? What happened to their mother? What happened to the fortune that was stolen from Hasan's father? So many questions unanswered which left me totally disappointed. I felt as though the last 3 episodes were written by another writer because it was an utter fail. Efe (the child) was mentally and emotionally abused throughout the series, but somehow he ends up being happy go lucky. All the lies and hate were all forgiven and they live happily ever after. Total nonsense!
Adim Farah (2023)
Love it!
I watched the Cleaning Lady on Netflix and thought this would be a copy, but it wasn't. I liked the storyline of Adim Farah much more. I love Engin and Demet, so this was a must see for me. I will admit that I enjoyed season 1 a bit more than season 2. However, I believe season 2 improved after episode 19 when they finally reunited Farah and Tahir. Although it was an interesting plot, way too much time was wasted with Behnam and Farah. I also loved seeing Firat and Engin in the same series. They are both phenomenal actors and they didn't dissappoint. I'm hoping the series isn't cancelled and we will get season 3!
Çukur (2016)
Don't miss it if you love violence.
I read such good reviews that I finally decided to watch. Season 1, action packed and interesting. Season 2, still interesting. Season 3, going down hill. Season 4, I was done at episode 3. If not for Salih/Vartolu (Erkan Kolcak) and Alico (Riza Kocaoglu) I would have stopped at season 3. Both are phenomenal in this series. The series consisted of never ending gun fights, unrealistic scenarios, mafia wars, revenge and more gun fights. There were some heartfelt family moments with father Idris, but once he left the series, I was done. No one pays for their crimes and even worse, Yamaç ends up with the woman who had his father killed. The whole love conquers all crappola that ruins most Turkish dramas. Would I recommend it? Not really, but some may enjoy it.

Perfect For Teenagers?
I gave this a chance, but I was done after episode 10. Horrible acting, over exaggerated scenes and OMG, the crying. The crying doesn't end especially with the lead actress. I am not a fan of Ebru, but I gave this a chance because of the ratings and Akin. After episode 10, I couldn't bare seeing Ebru's face on the screen every 5 minutes trying to talk through the crying. No dialogue between the characters other than I will never forgive you, I hate you, I will kill you and what are you doing here? Same old boring Turkish drama of a man promising revenge and then falling in love with the woman. Man hurts woman, regrets hurting her, falls in love and woman doesn't forgive. Man chases woman, does everything to get forgiveness, woman plays hard to get until she finally gives in after 40 freaking episodes. Overdone and boring. How this got 10 rating is beyond me. Again, perfect for teenagers who believe in this childish fairytale crap.
Cesur Ve Güzel (2016)
What Happened To Revenge?
Just once I would love to see a Turkish series where a man doesn't become a weak and pathetic slave to love. Another disappointing series. Cesur comes back to avenge his fathers murder and falls in love with the murderers daughter. Again, started out great and failed in the end. What happened to revenge? The acting was good, but the storyline was all over the place. I would have loved to see the revenge instead of a boring love story. Typical drama where a woman plays hard to get and the man runs after her like a poor sap. Gave it 5 stars for the acting, but the series wasn't worth it. Would I recommend it? Nope.
Ezel (2009)
Another disappointment.
I watched this series because everyone was raving about. Love Cansu and Kenan, so I couldn't miss it. It started out great, but the ending ruined it for me. Filled with action, suspense and a ton of drama. The acting was great too, but the storyline was totally unrealistic. Ezel (Kenan) is framed and sent to prison by his 2 best friends and the woman he loves. He returns with a different face and swears to avenge the ones that framed him for murder and sent him to prison. Instead, he ends up forgiving them and that's where it goes downhill. After all the horrible things Eyshen (Cansu) did, he forgives her because he apparently still loves her. Typical Turkish drama where a man forgives the ultimate betrayal because love means everything. Total crap! I have it 3 stars because the acting was good, but the storyline failed miserably in the end.
Kardeslerim (2021)
Absolutely Ridiculous
I can't even begin to describe how horrible this series is. I started watching it because everyone kept mentioning how wonderful it was. It's great if you're a teenager and want to watch nonsense. Like others said, if you're curious, just watch the last 10 minutes of each episode. Trust me, you're not missing anything. That's what I did for the last 75 episodes hoping to see the villains pay for their horrible deeds, but it never happens. Totally unrealistic plot. Don't waste your time unless you're a teenager and enjoy high school drama. Will not continue to watch any of the new episodes. Wasted enough time.
Fatmagül'ün Suçu Ne? (2010)
Great Acting
Loved the story, acting and the characters. I'm a huge Engin fan, so there was no way I would have missed it. I was so glad to see all the villains pay for the horrific things they did throughout the series. After reading the reviews, I was reluctant to watch at first because some claimed it was abuse towards woman. I believe the writers did a great job at showing us that woman do indeed have a voice and all the support given during the series emphasized that. Engin was amazing as usual. I love Beren, but her acting left a lot to be desired in this series. I definitely recommend the series and think it was amazing.
Kuzey Güney (2011)
Horrible!
How did this ridiculous series get such high ratings? Repetitive, unrealistic and boring as hell. The lead actress, Oyku was horrible. She has got to be the worst I have ever seen. Emotionless, boring and her voice was unbearable. Kicanc overacted throughout the entire series. Absolutely no chemistry between them. The storyline was a big fail. A woman obsessed with her ex fiancés brother and was pretty much written like a doormat. She was like a leech that followed Kuzey around like a sick dog. I say unrealistic because there is no way in hell anyone would be accepting of the relationship between these 2 characters. I fast forwarded all the scenes of Cemre cause I couldn't tolerate watching her and her selfish mother. I watched until the end because I wanted to see what happens with the 2 brothers. Another Turkish drama where a man gives up all his morals and principles for a woman. I think the high ratings are due to Kivanc. Although I'm a huge fan of his, he was really disappointing in this series.
Sefirin Kizi (2019)
Great Series, Except for Neshlihan!
Ignore the reviews from anyone claiming the series was bad in the second season. It was a great series and contrary to what the disgruntled Neshlihan fans claim, the second season was even better than the first.
The series was based on a childhood romance that was revisited 10 years later. Sancar (Engin), who came from poverty meets the unattainable Nare (Neshlihan) who was the ambassadors daughter. A childhood fairytale concocted by the town poet (Kavruk) that kept this so called legendary love story alive. Nothing about their relationship resembled love. Nare and Sancar were not a love story, but a tragedy. Nare was portrayed as a victim throughout the series, but I saw her as a villain who came back for revenge and tormented Sancar with guilt. After completely destroying his life, Nare finally comes to realize she is incapable of love and leaves town. Leaving both Sancar and their daughter devastated. Sancar finally finds true love when Mavi (Tuba) enters the scene in season 2. Sancar and Mavi have a relationship filled with trust, understanding and forgiveness. That's love unlike the toxic relationship he had with Nare.
I personally avoid any series that Neshlihan is a part of, but I couldn't miss this one since I love Engin's work. Neshlihan has got to be the most overrated actress in Turkey. This woman cannot act and she was a horrible fit for this series. There is absolutely no versatility in her acting skills whatsoever. The same expressions, angry pursed lips, exaggerated gestures, and a strut like she's on a runway instead of movie set. Engin was amazing and the rest of the cast was pretty good. Anyone who is an Engin fan should watch it. You won't be sorry. However you will have to endure the toxicity of the first 35 episodes, but in the end it's totally worth it.
Emanet (2020)
Slow & Repetitious!
I'm on season 1 episode 100 and I'm only watching cause I love the lead actor. The concept is great, but there is no depth, progression or character growth. I'm about to stop watching because I'm tired of the slow pace and repetitive storylines.
Casting is horrible. The majority of the actors overact and are not at all believable. Sila is way too young to play this role. She's 21 and her acting lacks any type of emotion. Halil is absolutely gorgeous and the expressions on his face are worth a 1000 words. Sila was obviously chosen for her beauty and that's all you're going to get from from actress. The distracting eye movements, half blinks, coy smiles and childlike behavior just frustrates me to no end. We get it, she's pretty, but enough with the closeups! Even her tone has changed and she has become unwatchable. She acts like a nervous teenager with a crush next to a mature man. Ughh! Episode 100 and still no physical contact other than the ridiculous stares!
Kiraz, Ali and the police officers are absolutely irrelevant! What is the purpose of them being on this show? Why not focus on Yaman and Ziya's past? What happened to Ziya? Who raised them? Where is their mother? No depth! At episode 100 it has now turned into a teenage love story. Each episode is 60 minutes. 20 minutes of Sila's eyeballs, 20 minutes of flashbacks and 20 minutes of the same dialogue.
I gave 5 stars for the concept and Halil. I hope things change, but I'm not very optimistic. I'm giving it another 10 episodes and if nothing improves, I'm done. Sick of fast forwarding and hoping not to see see Sila's closeups.
Ölene Kadar (2017)
Great Drama
Not sure why everyone hated the ending of this series? I thought it was the PERFECT ENDING! Selvi didn't deserve happiness after everything she did. She chose to protect her brother, a murderer over a descent man. It wasn't her fault when she was a child, but she should have confessed as an adult. She was a selfish and evil woman who cared only about herself. If she was such a good person, she should have walked into the police station and claimed responsibility for the murder and turn herself and brother in. She was just as guilty as Ender, Fahri and Yalmaz. The story was good, but very unrealistic and not believable. No man would have stayed with a woman like Selvi. No way! No how! No...true love doesn't conquer all! When Selvi came to confess at the beach, Daghan said there are some things that can't be forgiven, yet he forgives a woman who sent him to prison and hid it for years? He lost the love of his life, Beril. He lost his child. He lost his career. He lost his father. He spent 11 years in prison and he just forgives the woman who caused him all this pain and suffering in the name of love? GMAB. He couldn't forgive Beril for not believing him, but he forgave a woman who constantly lied, deceived and ruined his life. Really? Justice was served and she lost him in the end. Seeing her suffer in the last scene was my favorite part of the series. Karma is a B. She could go live happily ever after with her brother. Loved the acting, but I didn't see any chemistry between the lead actors. I think Engin had way more chemistry with Gulcan Arslan than with Fahriye. Engin was phenomenal as usual.
Kara Para Ask (2014)
This series should have been called "All About Elif!
The first 40 episodes kept me on the edge of my seat and the characters kept bringing me back for more. The twists and turns in the plot were exciting and I looked forward to each new episode. I couldn't wait for that first kiss with Elif and Ömer and the build up was absolutely amazing. I was hooked and couldn't wait to see the love story everyone kept talking about. Then it all went to hell!
By episode 100, I was truly hoping Elif would just die and go straight to hell. I wanted Ömer with Ipek instead of the self absorbed Elif. At this point, I started fast forwarding all the Ömer & Elif scenes. I couldn't watch Ömer's wimpy ass bending over backwards to please this ungrateful woman. By Episode 160 I was praying someone would finally put a bullet through Elif's head and put her out of her misery. How anyone considers this a love story is beyond me. How does making a man choose between the woman he loves and the dream of being a cop represent real love? Total rubbish! The Last 4 episodes were unwatchable and pretty much ruined the entire series for me. The ending was disappointing to say the least. A man gives up his real passion and love (being a cop) for an undeserving woman. The only thing I enjoyed about the series was the nonstop action and some great acting. Engin is phenomenal! The supporting cast was also great especially Tayyar. Tuba is beautiful, but her acting skills are lackluster. Is it worth watching? Yes. Is it a love story? No! He gave up everything he loves and cherishes and she gave up absolutely nothing. That's not love!
Kiralik Ask (2015)
Horrible series.
If you're a teenager you will love this ridiculous series. A woman who constantly lies and manipulates ends up changing a descent man. A man with morals, integrity and principles gives up everything he believes for a selfish woman. I believe it was 69 episodes. I stopped watching when I found out what the ending would be. If you're interested in watching a series where a weak man is fooled by a wicked woman, this is the series for you. All this film teaches is that horrible behavior is rewarded. According to this series, love conquers all. Nothing about this series has anything to do with love. Long drawn out series that was a complete waste of time.
