True Detective: Night Country: Part 6 (2024)
No need to hypothesize why I don't like this season
This season wasn't very good and you don't need to try to guess why I think this. It's not because I'm a misogynist. It's not because I'm a season 1 fan boy. It's not because I'm afraid of examining history. And it's not because I don't understand the story.
It is really quite simple. Season 4 had a fantastic setting, a mediocre story, terrible dialogue, and mostly terrible acting. The pacing was poor. Almost entire episodes would go by with no plot advancement and minimal character development. There were too many ancillary characters that did nothing to develop the main characters. And by episode 6, when I should have been invested in the characters, I flat out was not. The moral lessons some are going on about were told with the subtlety of a brick to the face.
I will say it again - like what you like. I'm not going to be so arrogant as to assume why you like this season if that's how you feel. Most of these negative reviews quite clearly state why they didn't like the season - and there are plenty of reasons to not like this season. There's no need to hypothesize why when there are glaring reasons staring you right in the face.
True Detective: Night Country: Part 4 (2024)
Lifetime/Hallmark bought the True Detective IP
First, I'll rate the episode strictly based on my opinion, instead of rating based on what other people are doing. The dialogue and acting have been fairly poor for four episodes, but in this episode they took a nose dive. Reis has two expressions - sullen and sullenly angry. As someone else said, maybe she can act, but in this she's terrible. The dialogue is so weak, even Foster seems subpar. There are too many characters, so many in fact, that there has been almost no development of any of them. I don't feel any investment in any of them. Lastly, there has been little to no advancement of the little plot there is - and almost no actual investigating.
Listen, like what you like. I don't have any issues if someone considers this to be good. Personally, if this were the first episode and not part of a series that I really have liked in the past, I wouldn't have even finished one episode. But those people on here claiming that the only reasons anyone doesn't like this season is because they are incels and misogynistic is absolutely delusional. There are plenty of, myriad even, reasons to critique this season, and specially this episode.
Amber Alert (2012)
Nail biter
Originally titled "Two Bickering Idiots", Amber Alert really takes us to places we don't want to go. Listening to the driver and passenger shriek for 90 minutes is a special type of torture. The pain is really driven home by idiotic, illogical decisions that keep driving the plot so we can listen to the two main protagonists shriek at each other for longer. I can't remember a time where I dislikes the main characters more. I rooted more for Jeffery Dahmer in the recent Netflix show than I did for these two. They could very easily be the worst characters ever put on screen and I would like to punch both of them in the face. Imagine the daughter shrieking in the 40 year old virgin (when she walks in on them having sex) for 90 minutes.
The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs (2018)
Let's be real
If you're comparing this show to other styles of shows, you're engaging in an exercise in futility and not that bright. This show, for what it is, is best in class. Joe Bob knows his movies and brings a wealth of knowledge to each episode. Paired with his wit and humor, his knowledge makes even the cheesiest movies interesting.
Bosch: Legacy (2022)
Solid continuation of Bosch
So far it seems like a good continuation of Bosch. I just have one question. How did they come up with a new theme song and SOMEHOW get worse? I come on, spring a couple bucks on a good song Jeff, you can afford it.
Game of Thrones: The Bells (2019)
Get over it
The episode was enjoyable. All of you clowns whining and acting like the world is ending need to get some perspective. Voting just to drive down/up a score? Get a life turds.
