Dragon Rider (2020)
6/10
Cheap productions, same storyline. Sometimes, too silly & too dark. Overall, it was okay.
17 June 2024
I watched this movie recently and I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, the storyline felt solid, but at the same time, it seemed like something I've seen before, especially in the "How to Train Your Dragon" movies. It also included references to "How to Train Your Dragon" and "Ice Age," which was interesting.

However, the movie felt like it was trying to cater to both children and adults, and I couldn't quite figure out who the target audience was. The voice casting choices, especially for the character Ben, were disappointing, and the character designs, particularly for Sorrel and some of the dragons like Firedrake, weren't well done in my opinion. The villain Nettlebrand was okay, but on the weaker side, and it was hard to take him seriously.

Both the animation and sound quality didn't meet my expectations. I really disliked the dull, grayish tones of the animation - it looked cheap. Despite these downsides, I could appreciate the adventure aspect and the world-building in the movie. However, the original song was awful, and it seemed like the movie was cutting corners everywhere.

Overall an average movie for children
16 June 2024
The movie was quite average overall. The CGI quality was acceptable, but it didn't particularly stand out. However, the voice castings for the characters were impressive and managed to capture the essence of the original Woody the Woodpecker series.

While some of the jokes missed the mark, it's important to note that the film is primarily targeted at children, but adults can still find entertainment value in it. The storyline was fairly basic and lacked depth, following a predictable and straightforward trajectory. The pacing of the movie was notably brisk from the outset, which may have contributed to the feeling of it being a bit rushed.

In terms of the performances, the actors did reasonably well, although, at times, the acting came across as somewhat overexaggerated. The musical scores were nothing out of the ordinary and did little to elevate the overall viewing experience.

In summary, the movie had a low-budget feel to it, but despite its shortcomings, it still manages to warrant a modest recommendation.

The animation is remarkable, with great action scenes, and it stays faithful to the original lore
15 June 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was awesome! The animation quality was top-notch, and the scores and audio were amazing. The voice cast did a great job, and the characters were really compelling. The storyline was kind of predictable, but the execution was impressive. The mood and character designs reminded me a lot of Disney's Big Hero 6, which was cool.

I grew up watching Ultraman, so I'm pretty familiar with it. I loved everything about this movie, except for the villain. Professor Sato just didn't cut it as a villain.

But overall, this movie has something for everyone - action, drama, and sci-fi. The ending and end credit scene got me excited for a sequel. I'd definitely recommend it!

Great Storyline - Very magical and family friendly. Animation style was bit off
14 June 2024
Upon reflection, it seems that numerous individuals share my sentiment that while the animation style was slightly off, the storyline was exceptional, and the scores were remarkably good. The characters, brought to life by compelling voice actors, were truly delightful, and each one of them deserves commendation.

The storyline was completely original, unlike anything I had seen before. I particularly enjoyed the magical elements of this animation; it evoked the nostalgic feel of classic Disney animated movies. I believe it is a film that appeals to all age groups, and I highly recommend it. Check it out!.

Beautiful but not the one that i was looking for. Not for kids.
10 June 2024
I didn't expect the movie to be a romance; I was hoping for a sci-fi film. However, I loved the art style, which reminded me of Spiderman Into the Spider-Verse. The song choices and voice cast were great. The pacing was a bit slow and boring, but the music kept me engaged.

I'm not a fan of the heavy focus on being high and smoking weed in the movie. It's mostly about being high and falling in love while dealing with exes. I'm not really into romance, so this aspect didn't appeal to me.

This movie is not suitable for kids or young children due to some age-inappropriate scenes. It's not for everyone, but I still recommend it.

Full with great action scenes and funny moments
2 June 2024
First of all, this was a great movie though some of the character designs were questionably bad, especially the Justice League members (except Superman).

The animation style was great, hence both the animation and audio quality were outstanding. Great song choices and the scores were not bad either.

The storyline was straightforward and was executed perfectly. Great pacing. The targetted audience was young children, hence was no need to take it too seriously.

I found the voice castings weird at the beginning, but they grew on me. I didn't expect both the mid-credit scene and the end-credit scene. Both were cute and set up for a possible sequel.

Highly recommended.

Great Movie. Very Dark, not advisable for younger kids.
2 June 2024
This was probably the best Pinocchio movie that I ever watched, to be honest. It was nothing like the one I grew up watching but had a few dark moments (so stay alert when watching with younger children).

One of the best stop-motion animations, with outstanding pacing and scores. Amazing line of voice casts and kudos for giving very compelling performances throughout the movies. The MVP were Geppetto and Pinocchio.

It was full of Drama, Mystery and Actions. A little bit of Adventure but a movie for the older audiences. Not advisable for children.

Lovely original songs and musical numbers. Amazing storyline, nothing like the original but the ending was really sad and dark. Highly recommended.

Didn't expect to be a musical. It was OKAY
2 June 2024
This movie is not for everyone, slowly paced with a few annoying moments. I didn't expect it to be a musical. The songs mostly were just bad and annoying.

The animation was totally fine for me but the character design especially those kindergarteners looked very awful. Love some of the jokes (some were very dark), the mood setup was underwhelming though.

The storyline was neat and generic. Nothing special. All the characters had big part of this movie. Leo can be a relatable character for some, but the voice casting could've been better for him. Squirtle was fine, just disgusting moments of him peeing. Recommended.

Nothing like the Loud House, bit boring
2 June 2024
It's an okay-ish movie. It reminded me of The Loud House in terms of the animation style. Both the animation and audio quality were fine. There is not much that I can say about the original song as it was not played for long.

The storyline was okay, though it was boring for me. It was just like every other kids' movie out there about a father/mother-son/daughter relationship, just with a slight twist. The tone setup was a bit gloomy and dark, and I'm unsure if it was intentional. The voice casts were okay except for the main character Ronnie, her voice reminded me of Tommy from the Rugrats. It was weird. Overall, an average movie.

The returning characters are great, but the movie felt repetitive of the first one.
27 May 2024
This movie was cute and decent. I appreciated that they kept the same animation style and all the returning voice cast from the first movie.

However, the storyline felt a bit repetitive, focusing on a different way of processing chicken meat and the introduction of new technologies. This made the second act feel boring to me.

I didn't connect with the new characters, Molly and Frizzle, as much as I did with Ginger and Rocky from the first movie. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the return of Mrs. Tweedle for revenge.

The scores and songs were amazing, making it great for young kids to watch. I recommend it.

How to Train Your Dragons X One Piece X Monster Hunter X Pirates of the Caribbean
25 May 2024
Both the animation quality and the scores were top-notch. The storyline and writing were perfect, and the world-building aspect of this movie was outstanding.

It was very reminiscent of One Piece, Monster Hunters, and How to Train Your Dragon - all mixed up together. Certain parts of this movie also reminded me of the Pirates of the Caribbean.

The character design, especially the monsters, was great. The voice castings were excellent and gave compelling performances throughout the movie. The action scenes were outstanding, and I loved the thrilling adventure aspect of this movie.

The original song was great, although not very catchy or memorable. It's something every child would get excited about. Highly recommended.

This movie has something for everyone and is definitely a top-tier stop-motion animated film
25 May 2024
This is probably the first stop-motion (claymation) animated movie that I watched, and it has been years since the last time I watched it. I never realized how dark the movie was, especially in the first act. Now, I'm rewatching it for the sequel. It's still one of the best things I've ever watched and is still relevant for today's audiences.

Both the audio and animation quality were outstanding. The voice cast was amazing, kudos to each and every one of them. The original song is good. The characters, especially Ginger and Rocky, are memorable. The pacing and mood setup are perfect.

The storyline was simple but executed perfectly. There's a great amount of thrills and comedy. It's totally not boring and something that audiences of all ages would enjoy. Highly recommended.

I've never met a kid who has as many worries as Orion
25 May 2024
The animation style and quality were great. This movie is very reminiscent of "Inside Out" and "Rise of the Guardians." The scores were great, but the pacing of this movie was really bad.

The first act was awful. Orion was characterized as being a bit too much. There was just too much talking, and I understand that he has social anxiety, but some moments were a bit overexaggerated, even for a children's movie.

I loved the second act. It felt like a mix of "Inside Out" and "Rise of the Guardians," although some of the characters were poorly designed. Still, the voice cast gave very compelling performances. Kudos to them.

The final act was just horrible. It felt rushed and out of place. I guess it might be good for children to watch, but I'm not sure. You be the judge.

Reminded me of 2000-2010s animated movies
24 May 2024
It is a fun movie full of thrilling adventures and comedy. As an adult I do enjoy it a lot, few adult jokes but safe for the kids to watch.

Just knew that it was a co-produced animated movie with China, but the quality of the animation is on par with Western animated movies (especially from Disney/Pixar & DreamWorks. Great line of voice talents. Compelling voice performances done by the voice cast.

Great original songs and scores. Love the animation style and colour choices. Meanwhile, the storyline was not what I expected at first. Something fresh and fun. Kids definitely would love this movie. Highly recommended.

Can be relatable to some. Cute & Fun family movie.
22 May 2024
That was cute. Love the animation style and the quality which reminds me of many other Netflix's Animation Original Movies. A great number of characters and I love the world building aspect of this movie.

For me, Otis was the most likeable due to his few beautiful dialogues with Thelma. But Thelma was undeniably the main character of this movie and can relate to many people as she was feeling insecure despite being so talented.

The storyline and progression itself were cute and very family oriented. The mood setup was bright and very welcoming to watch. Few references to the LGBTQ+ community, which were cute and appreciated.

Great original songs and kudos to the voice casts for their compelling performances. Recommended.

Canon & Great animation quality - Mostly new voice casts
14 May 2024
This is canon. The first part (Two Shots), took place a year before Kurama and Hiei met Yusuke and Kuwabara. Meanwhile, the second part (All or Nothing), takes place after the end of the main series.

Some of the original voice casts didn't return for these shorts. It was noticeable, especially for Yusuke, Hiei, Keiko and Kuwabara's sister.

Overall, amazing animation quality and great improvement in fight choreos. Love the action and thrilling aspect of this short/special episode. Appreciate some of the cameos, even if it's only a few seconds.

Something the long-term fans would appreciate. Recommended.

Non-canon but it was a mess. Horrible pacing and weakest villains of the franchise
14 May 2024
Started strong but ended horribly. Horrible pacing and writing. The weakest villains of the franchise. Huge fan of the main series, but this movie was just awful. Took place around or after season 2 but non-canon.

The animation and audio quality were amazing. Great scores and original song but the mood setup was horrible. Love the voice casts as always (watched it on original japanese audio). This movie ended abruptly without showing the aftermath of the battle. Meanwhile, the action or battle scenes were mediocre. The main series was way better. Horrible power sets and designs on the villains.

The new character was indeed useless and not required for the plot. Wish I could see more of Botan. Skippable and had no revisit value, just watch the main series instead.

Its a special episode (or OVA). Still good tho.
12 May 2024
Its a special episode instead of a movie, took place around season 1 (right before the tournament in season 2). Run time around 25 minutes, plus same intro and ending songs as in the season 1 & season 2 respectively. Usual storyline as in the main series, just doing some saving and fighting demons.

The animation and the sound quality were just same as in the main series. Apart from the new characters, nothing much to discussed on. The villains for this short movie were pretty generic and boring tbh. Great voice casting as always.

Wish there could be more screen time for Hiei and Kurama, but its okay since its only a special episode.

Joyful and heartwarming
9 May 2024
It is one of the best Chibi Maruko Chan movies that I ever watched. This was such a roller coaster of emotions, joyful and heartwarming.

That last scene broke me into tears, I've never seen Maruko be this sad (not even her goodbye with Pusadi could top this). The scores were outstanding, definitely a huge reason why the emotional scenes hit so hard.

Great mood setup and I love the animation style. A huge improvement from the series. I adore the original song during the Lantern Festival & love this newer version of the intro song. The ending scene was cute.

Great performance by all the voice casts - very memorable and have high replayable value. Perfect for family movie time. Highly recommended.

A wonderful movie with unexpected cameo
27 April 2024
The storyline of this movie seems to resemble another movie from the same franchise, Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Dinosaur (2006). There is an unexpected cameo of Pisuke that only lasts for a few seconds, but it makes sense.

The scores in the movie are amazing, as always. I love the animation style and the vibrant colors that set the mood for adventure. The original songs were okay, but nothing memorable. The movie introduces a new gadget, which is chocolate to tame wild animals, just like the momotaro peach from the first movie.

The voice castings in the movie are amazing as always. I adore the cute design of the dinosaurs. However, I felt that more focus was put on Kyu compared to Myu, even though both are twins. This seems a bit unfair for the other child, Myu. Overall, I recommend this movie.

Fast & Furious meets Zootopia. Great actions and enjoyable.
20 April 2024
A pretty decent movie with a great amount of action and a fun movie to watch along with your family and friends. Love the animation style - clean & very detail-oriented.

The scores were nice, the original song was great & catchy. The colour palette was nice for me. Some questionable voice castings, like Awkafina for Web - didn't resonate with me with the character.

The storyline was good though it was a bit predictable. But still enjoyable to watch. It reminded me of the Fast & Furious franschise as if it was in Zootopia world, though unlike in Zootopia there are humans in here. Recommended.

Unlike any other superhero TV shows - may not appeal to everyone but great in its own way
14 April 2024
To be honest, I found the first season of the show quite rough. However, things started to get better after the mid-season of the second season. Unlike other superhero team-up shows on CW, I am drawn to this show much more and I am having a lot of fun with it. This show doesn't have to be dark, expensive, and taken too seriously like other superhero shows. It is different and probably for niche audiences like me.

The show has a great line of casts portraying B-tier or lower characters from DC comics. I love the team dynamics among all the characters. The action scenes were good but the executions were a bit cheesy, especially the CGI. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed it.

Out of all the seasons, the third season was my favorite. Season 2 and 4 were great, while season 1 was the worst, and the rest were just okay.

This show is definitely not for everyone. It has a very light tone with tons of actions and adventures.

A masterpiece - From 2 decades ago, still relevant and great.
14 April 2024
I used to watch this show on TV when I was young, even though I wasn't familiar with any of the characters because western superheroes weren't popular in my country back then. Recently, I rewatched it and now I appreciate it even more.

I love learning about the origin stories of all the characters, even though it seems like their superpowers were toned down compared to their recent adaptations that I am more familiar with.

The animation style is amazing and I'll always remember the opening scene and score. The voice castings were perfect and the tone was just right - not too serious, but not too cheesy either. It's a show that everyone can enjoy, regardless of age. I particularly enjoyed the action scenes and I hope there will be more seasons in the future. I highly recommend it.

Great Story Arcs, World-Building & Characters (Especially Villains). Tons of actions (Fillers too).
22 March 2024
Been watching it for such a long time (almost 2 decades). Undeniably one of the best manga and anime out there.

Many memorable and likeable characters, voiced by many compelling voice casts. Excellent world-building and characters design. Love the action scenes and power sets. Some unique characters and skills.

Great storyline but the execution was bit annoying (too many fillers!). Adore some fillers but mostly just nuisance tbh. Best line of villains.

Several amazing scores and original songs (both opening and ending songs were terrific). Love the adventure aspects as well as the mysterical lores.

Few (very) emotional moments. Love the characters developments and growth throughout the year, though some of the characters (especially female characters) were downgraded and didnt get enough screen time.

Overall, a good option to watch for action-adventure lovers. Highly recommended.

Ushio & Tora (2015–2016)
7/10
A great watch but rushed way too much. Almost similar to Inuyasha & Naruto.
18 March 2024
It was a good watch although it was rushed nearly half of the series. Generic main character (Ushio) - A crybaby high school student with many female interests. The dynamic between Tora and Ushio reminded me of Naruto with Kurama.

A huge fan of yokai or monster hunting. This was good as it is full of yokai that I'm mostly familiar with and packed with actions and adventures.

The animation style was okay, great performances by the voice actors. The opening song reminded me of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.

The second half of this series was extremely rushed. Everything moves forward with little to no time to get into the storyline. Maybe it was cancelled for more seasons. Not a fan of the character's progression.

The world-building was awful but I did enjoy the fighting. Tbh, this reminded me too much of Inuyasha.

Ngl, the sad moments hit hard, mostly thanks to the amazing instrumentals and compelling voice castings. Some unexpected twists that caught me off guard. Few horrifying scenes. Recommended.
