24 (2001)
Among the best thing ever created on TV
I just need to get this out now. 24 is the best, it may not have the brilliance and characters like 'Dexter', but there is more under the surface in this show than an angry of federal agent running around torturing suspects. It's a show that breaks down the human mind and then assemblies the shards that is left after thousands of people has stomped upon them. This is a fact that most 24 critics won't admit, they're saying that it's a mindless show that is popular just because of it's attitude and action. Now would someone really spend 7 seasons times 18 hours per season watching random access? Yes, but not enough people to allow it to continue to air, but the show is on the air and it's because people has realized how incredible good it actually is.
I have been following Jack Bauer's adventures for 6 weeks straight now, watching a season in about 1.5 weeks. I started at the first season and I'm now mid 5, so you can't say I'm very objective in my judgment since I'm so completely lost in the world of 24, but the last episode I watched, Episode 13 of the fifth season made something to me like no show has ever done before. It made me cry for the entire second act, no small dropping tears, but real sprouting tears that made me feel so terrible about everything that I didn't know where to go.
Many people say that the show is nowadays much worse since it's no longer anything like the first season. I don't think anyone can really say otherwise but you have to look at it as something completely necessary for the survival of the show. Sure some things in the first season is much better than the latter seasons (>3), like the overall plot. But if we were hand fed the same thing for 6 seasons we would be bored of it and then people would accuse the show for not moving on.
To sum it up, I would like to say that I don't think everything in 24 is perfect, a lot of things are repeated to death (like the 'I understand' quote), but the shows is still going strong and I would like to recommend this to everyone who wants to take part in one of the most valuable pieces of TV history.
10/10 without hesitation!
Arn: Riket vid vägens slut (2008)
A huge disappointment
I don't think I have ever been so disappointed as I was when saw this movie. I really enjoyed the first film as it was a really good attempt to make a movie that held somewhat internationally class, but this one did not continue that trend.
This movies biggest weakness (not counting acting) is that it has so many useless scenes. The movie could without any real problems been cut in half.
There was good moments though, seeing Swedes kick the asses of a bunch of Danish invaders is always a fun experience and the ending was in my taste. The landscapes are also pretty amazing but seeing people in profile looking out from Visingsö is not very good when you see it for the fourth time..
If you liked the first one you are bound to see it otherwise I wouldn't bother.
