Breath of Life (2023)
Beautifully written and made movie
This is one of the most fantastic movies I have ever seen. Well-written script. Fantastic character development and portrayals by the actors and actresses. Cinematography is captivating and simply excellent. Wonderfully edited. Wonderful soundtrack. Did I say wonderful? You lose yourself in the movie, in the life of the storyline. There is horror, tragedy, humor, romance, redemption. Nothing cheesy. I can't say enough good things about this movie. I am very surprised that there would be any bad reviews and that people have slept on it. This is excellent Nollywood and excellent, period. Please go and watch it. It.
Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey (2020)
Excellent, heart-warming movie, for holidays and beyond
More than your regular holiday flick. Great storyline passing through generations. Costumes, set and music are over the top fantastic. Many humorous parts. A great movie for all the family. Musical but just enough for those who may not like too much song-singing.
There are very few newer movies that are wholly family friendly, without sexual innuendo, profanity and other material that may be offensive or inappropriate for younger audiences. This movie allows audiences to just sit back and enjoy without concern.
Young Journey is a star!! She provides such a great performance and blends acting, singing and dancing talent so well. She brings her character to life and you fall in love with her all along the way. Bravo to her.
This is one of those movies that is a must see every year, and is enjoyable even outside the holidays.
Chief Daddy 2: Going for Broke (2022)
Chief Daddy 2 Disastrously Fails to Deliver Quality
I love to promote Nollywood whenever possible.
The sequel is very disappointing. The biggest problem is that the script didn't build on the original movie. The sub-storylines were excessive, disjointed and mostly unnecessary. The absolute hilarity and energy found in the original were completely nonexistent.
Some of the stronger character roles from the original like Ekanem, Donatus and Aunty Ajoke were barely heard from. We have no idea why Ireti and Dami Baggio seemingly abandoned their good-natured purposes, and are presented as very disconnected from their roles in the prequel Chief Daddy 1. Ireti's new role as an antagonist of the family was never addressed throughout the movie and sadly never resolved at the end of the movie.
The movie focuses mainly on Femi and Dami Baggio, the older sons of the late chief as well as escapades in Dubai. The costumes and set designs are beautiful but these do not mitigate the obvious lack of a cohesive storyline.
I love Nollywood and I pay homage to the late Rachel Oniga who passed away shortly after the film's production was completed. If you are going to create room for a sequel in the original movie, make sure that you carefully create a great sequel. Chief Daddy 1 is an endearing comedic classic for Nollywood and the sequel leaves us more than disappointed.
