Despicable Me 2 (2013)
A despicable movie
Animation movies are fun to watch for all ages, especially kid. I love them primarily for their subtle messages for life. But Despicable Me 2 has let me down. Here is my grudge, point by point:
"I can create an army of monsters for the world, but no one messes with my family." : By Dr. Nefario.
It is okay to destroy public property. You don't even need to apologize. Mr. Gru has done that umpteen times.
It is cool to realize that you are in love, and jump from a passenger plane, using an emergency door, without caring about other innocent passengers. (Ms. Lucy)
You should teach your dog to relieve itself in your neighbor's lawn. (Mr. Gru)
Bad people get bored living a good life. (Mr. Nefario and Mr. Gru)
I am disappointed to find delivery of such messages to kids, even grown-ups. People look up their heroes for inspiration, goodness, and right values, but such movies are meant only to earn money, not respect.
Aashiqui 2 (2013)
A horrid tale
I would not call it a movie. It was an ensemble of people who were groping for a meaningful story, screenplay, direction and choreography. Sometimes in life everything go bad; Asshiqui 2 is that bad! It is an old plot of a rich prodigal guy loving a poor prodigal girl. They strike a bond immediately and viewer never understand the why and how of that! There are so many loopholes, plain faces of lead actors, even side actors did bad (other than a watchman, he was good). Dialogue delivery of actors unpolished, plot unplanned, and haphazard. There was no congruity between actions and emotions. Direction was lost at its best. Movie did not even care to explain many vital questions like what was wrong with RJ, how Aarohi became so successful? Who was RJ's dad? Why RJ became a moron? Why didn't RJ and Aarohi marry? And ultimately, why did RJ commit suicide?
There is an endless list that I prepared while watching through a typical substandard family sop like movie. It was a time to kill in the cinema hall.
Music was the only good thing. And I got enough of it.
Avoid this movie.
Chakravyuh (2012)
A half baked cookie
Prakash Jha is known for touching the nerves of contemporary problems of Indian society. Chakravyuh lacks the depth and breadth to analyze a complicated problem: Naxalism. The plot is good but it lacks good script and movie appear incoherent. The flow of story makes no sense many a times. Violence scenes are unnecessary, less brutal. Battles are too shallow, dark and fake. Paan Singh Tomar showed them better. Many lead actors(Mano Bajpai, Om Puri) are left unused and their roles are unjustified, too short to make an impact. Casting could had been better especially Arjun Rampal. Abhay Deol is too soft for playing as a bad guy.
The only beauty of the movie is that it helps you understand both sides of the war; and you will be perplexed for which side to support! It shows that the system and people are not the same as preached by a democracy. It also highlights that politics is in the driver seat.
