This Old Machine (2017)
I am confused...
I will not say this movie was trash (as many have said) I will not say the actors did a bad job (as some have said) I wont say bad things about the director (as others have said) ...what i will say is i had difficulty understanding where the story was trying to go... I feel it could have been expressed better... characters were not introduced well, they came and went and it was only later you discover who they are if you ever do... they weakly hint at his genitals being cut off(?i guess?) and sorta hint at his memory loss... you get at the first her parents hate him but mutilating him and leaving him as dead (plastic bag over the head says they were trying to end him and failed)...? That seems extreme... she says he tried to kill her but it never shows him doing anything like that... and why would you leave your sister out of the loop? ...doesn't that just scream we don't care if you go through emotional trauma thinking your sister was kidnapped and/or murdered??? ...not a very good sister (or family) if you ask me... and please someone tell me why was there an injured rabbit under the second floor floorboards? What was that about? Because apparently it was the karmic justice for this whole piece.... anyway, I've seen worse.
Dune (2021)
I loved it but I hated how they released it
This was a well made movie. I enjoyed it. They created a visually spectacular movie with great props and FXs... It also had a great cast with strong believable scenes. If you enjoy Scifi I think you'll love it. The only thing I hated about it was the fact that I didnt know it was a part 1 with part 2 not even made yet and wouldnt be out for a couple years... THAT pisses me off and made it lose points in my book.
Cowboy Bebop (2021)
I liked it, BUT WHY DOES MY OPINION MATTER?!?!?!?!
I watched the anime awhile back and I loved it. It was an interesting and fun romp. The characters, the art, the music, the story... I could see this future and these characters and want to be a part of their lives. So when i saw this live action series I was skeptical... I mean lets be honest many of the "live action" versions I've seen put out were terrible... but I'd see alot of great shows from Netflicks.
So I watched it...
I loved it... I mean sure it isnt 100% the anime BUT how can it be? These are real people interacting... some things dont flow... some things dont work just because an anime said they would.. some things change...
...not to mention they may only have 1 season to grab people and tell the story... so some things get streamlined and some things get cut...
...but to criticize it as "bad" or a "joke" or "terrible" or any of the other things some of these people are saying is just being mean spirited...
These actors did a great job on this. The shows are well made and edited together giving it a feeling of the anime (maybe not to some nitpicking troll BUT to ME) Every episode contained things I remembered from the anime sometimes it was slightly different but it was like seeing a familiar story I could enjoy in a completely new way.
...btw to say its "low budget" is just stupid I've WATCHED alot of low budget stuff. Some of that can be a pearl and some can be trash BUT this was NOT low budget. The scenes are too professional and the sets and props too well made.
All in all I enjoyed this series and I would watch it again and I would watch another season if it was made this well... BUT I dont know what others like or enjoy so why does MY opinion matter? Watch it yourself and tell us what you think.
Take care Cowboys and be safe out there.
