Hapless (2020)
Fantastic
This is how comedy should be. Simple, engaging, well-written, very funny and played out by a fantastic cast.
Modern comedy can often by very gimmicky, deliberately gross or childish and I'm glad to say that Hapless is none of these and is more akin to to classics such as Fawlty Towers and I'm Alan Partridge. Everyday situations with everyday flawed characters living their lives.
If you like the aforementioned programmes or Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm, you will absolutely love Hapless in the same way. I'm sure I'll be watching this over and over for years to come! Bravo and bring on series/season 3!
The Great House Giveaway (2020)
Great show that illustrates how tough flipping can be
Some of the "reviews" of this show are laughable. People seem to think that the show should increase the budget each time (not realising that this would KILL any profit potential) and yet in the next breath they're saying it's shameful that not every contestant walks away with a fortune.
This is the property game, sometimes you have to work hard and sometimes you make little or no profit, that's how it goes. Each project is not guaranteed to make money regardless of the property you choose or the amount of hard work you put in. Despite this, a lot of people appearing on this show make money and a lot of them make a LOT of money.
Keep up the good work, Simon is a a fantastic, knowledgeable and charismatic host with bags of experience (something these clueless IMDB users are sadly lacking).
QI (2003)
Fantastic Fry - Terrible Toksvig
The show was sheer perfection when Stephen Fry was at the helm with his fantastic wit and insightful knowledge. It nosedived dramatically once Sandi Toksvig assumed control and now feels as though you're being lectured by an irritating high school teacher with zero personality, warmth or charm. I stuck with it for as long as I could but eventually it became unwatchable. 10 stars for Stephen, 0 for Sandi.
This Time with Alan Partridge (2019)
Feels like a poor impression
I'm Alan Partridge series 1 and 2 are legendary and quite rightly so, they were near perfect.
This Time with Alan Partridge feels like a poor impression of Alan with the supporting cast all trying too hard with characters that are more annoying than funny.
The One Show itself is actually funnier than this thrown together poorly executed mess.
Bad Move (2017)
A Refreshing Change
In an era where the public raves over complete and utter garbage such as Mrs Brown's Boys, programmes like Bad Move are a nice refreshing throwback to the proper sitcom.
After watching just the first episode it comes across as a watered down Lead Balloon set in the country, which is not a bad thing at all.
Hopefully ITV will give it a chance to grow and it could develop in to a nice comfortable series despite the odd pessimism of the modern viewer.
