Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical (2005)
Reefer Madness is delightful, and Kristen Bell adorable
Reefer Madness is fun, quirky, clever and exciting. A perfect spoof of the original Reefer Madness (also known as 'Tell Your Children').
The cast is a breath of fresh air, with Christian Campbell and Kristen Bell playing the high-school sweethearts soon to fall victim to 'reefer madness', Alan Cumming as the lecturer against the evils of the reefer (the narrator) and several other characters, and Neve Campbell playing the proprietor of the Soda shop.
Even more so than in the TV show Veronica Mars, Kristen Bell is simply adorable. Whether she is playing an angelic do-gooder, a dominatrix, or a teenage PI, you simply can not go past the star dust emanating from Kristen Bell. She has amazing vocal strength and uses it perfectly in this film.
Veronica Mars (2004)
Veronica Mars - intelligent viewing
The ingredients: A teenage female private investigator ('a triple threat' as Veronica once described herself in the show) whose best friend, Lilly Kane, was recently murdered; a high school filled with the children of the rich and those who serve them; a father trying his best to raise his daughter in the middle of a town where both of them have recently and rapidly become outcasts; and mysteries both per episode and spreading across entire seasons.
The result: The short-run (only 3 seasons long) TV show Veronica Mars is, in my opinion, the best television show aimed at teenagers ever. The show is interesting, intelligent and funny. The script containing not only wit and humour but also depth, providing moments when even several of the 'bad seed' characters are able to be seen in a better light.
The mysteries of the show are made of tangible twists and turns that keep you guessing till the end, setting the show apart from those shows or movies where you can quite easily predict who the bad guy is.
I am among those who believe that television, and those who watch it, suffers greatly from the loss of this show. Even the storytelling great Joss Whedon (Firefly, Serenity, Buffy, and soon The Dollhouse), has commented positively on the caliber of Veronica Mars.
