L.A. D.J. (2004)
Not funny.. But very embarrassing
What the heck is with the DVD market these days? It seems as if anybody can shoot a movie on video and get it released. This film(er, taped film) is another in the long list of titles flooding the market with zero quality. The kid from American Pie must be having career problems. Otherwise he would be appearing in real films instead of directing and producing his own home made production ala "L.A. D.J." Even worse, this kid must really have an ego, otherwise he would know better than to put his name on this piece of garbage. I mean, really. This thing is really a stinker bomb. It is not funny. It is ridiculous. Gee, how many times can the word "dude" or "bro" be used in 90 minutes? And is farting in somebody's face repeatedly funny? I'll admit, "Dude, where's my car" was funny. But at least that film combined the bathroom humor with at least some intelligence. No wonder this went straight to DVD. It should have stayed off the market. Period.
The Singing Forest (2003)
Jorge Ameer and his dud
Jorge Ameer has made a shockingly terrible movie. My boyfriend and I watched this surprisingly bad movie last night. The cover art on the DVD case made this seem like it was going to be a really good movie. But we really hated it. As an openly gay couple, we both were very insulted by this movie. It really lacked morals and suggested some very seedy situations.
And the directing was just about the worst you could ever imagine. No, scratch that. I really could never imagine a film being directed with such sloppy directing. Ever. Jorge Ameer has no business making movies. I don't know what his talents are but film making is not one of them.
The Banger Sisters (2002)
Los Angeles
I love this movie! The gorgeous Goldie Hawn and the gorgeous Susan Sarnadon are hillarious as Suzette, and Vinny("LA LA LA VINIA", As Hawn's character hillariously taunts when Sarandon's character tells her not to call her Vinny anymore) former group groupies who reunite after 20 years. Goldie is a free spirited hippie chick still, and Susan plays an uptight wife and mother who's secret past and best friendship with Suzette is not known to her husband and two daughters. But Suzzette(Hawn) rebonds with Vinny, and hysterical situations abound! GREAT MOVIE!
Edge of Seventeen (1998)
Touching, heartfelt and Chris Stafford is wonderful!
This is my favorite gay themed film of all time. Set it 1984(with an awesome authentic 1980's soundtrack), Eric is enjoying the summer before his senior year in high school(played with perfection by the gorgeous Chris Stafford). His best friend, Maggie, is in love with him, but Eric is changing. He is discovering his desire for guys. This beautifully directed and scripted coming-out film boasts a fabulous cast(including a tender performance by Lea DeLarla), beauitiful acting, and startling reality. Chris Stafford is so amazing and cute and I hope to see him in many more films.
