Smallville: Obsession (2004)
Just Kiss Me
This was a very good episode. It was one of the funniest of this season and there were scenes that were just laugh out loud funny. The scene with Clark and Alicia in his room was very funny, hence my title. The whole episode went smoothly without unnecessary additions and stupid scenarios, which we've been getting a lot of this season. Two annoying things though, about this episode and a lot of the previous ones. One is that whenever anyone needs help the first person they run to is Lex to use his connections, money, etc to help them out. Yet whenever he uses these, they hold it against him and that's just so annoying. And the fact that he keeps helping is, I think, silly and a bit unrealistic (though he did refuse to help Clark/Pete in the previous episode). Secondly most of the krypton-infected people turn out to be psychos with just 1 or 2 exceptions. Overall however, very good, well-written and funny episode.

No wonder Lex becomes bad!
This was a very good episode of Smallville. Very interesting and the script was quite good and well played out. You were never really sure what to believe until the end. The only annoying bit is that they keep making Clark do some stupid and unnecessary things. Like stopping the car with his body. Why did he need to do that? Lex was excellent! He's such a good actor and he played his role really well. The ending is quite sad though. It's so sad to see Lex in the state he's in at the end and I really feel sorry for him. You know he becomes bad at the end and all the things that keep happening to him just make you realise why. Lionel too is given a bit of a humane face even though he does some really horrible things to Lex. But we're made to feel he's sad about them and doesn't really want to do them. I guess he feels he has to protect himself and his empire at all costs. All in all, very good episode.
Smallville: Phoenix (2003)
Mixture of moving and mushy
There were some bits about this that did not really work. For me it was particularly Jonathan's acceptance of Lex's gift. I guess he had to accept it back to make the story work, but still, come on, we know Jonathan. On the whole, this episode was okay, but I think my biggest problem with it is that there were bits that were just too mushy. Lex's conversation with Lionel at the end and the compass story. The whole Helen bit just seemed like the writers/producers were not sure what to do with the story, so they just did the best they could. And it's also quite typical that everyone that knows Clark's secret is killed off. My best part was when Clark saw Lex, after he came back. That part was well acted and quite moving.
