Dune (2021)
Great special effects
The 'world' which is created is magnificent. The special effects stunning. My problem was with the Paul/Lady Jessica scenes which were interminably boring. The acting was very wooden and the lead character 'Paul' has no charisma or chemistry with any other characters whatsoever. Worth watching though for the epic scenery.
Life After Death with Tyler Henry (2022)
Garbage
'Psychics' aren't psychic. There is no evidence for it. If it were a genuine phenomenon then psychics would be winning the lottery every week or even just predicting mundane things like Covid and wars. Susan Gerbic calls them 'grief vampires' and that is precisely what they are. Using well reported, simple to replicate techniques (cold reading/hot reading/google etc. ) in order to prey on the vulnerable. This is why psychics put 'for entertainment purposes only' on their websites - only, trashing people's genuine memories with BS isn't particularly entertaining.
Shame on Netflix for backing this trash.
Dexter: New Blood (2021)
Started great but declined.
I loved it for maybe 6-7 episodes. Then it deteriorated as the writers looked to quickly tie everything up.
I invested alot of time in this only to find another 'jump the shark' terrible ending! I would say this ending was as weak as Season 8. It's a real shame as I felt there was lots of potential in this series.
The Serpent (2021)
An entertaining story but...
I did enjoy this but my viewing experience was severely hampered by the awful acting of Billy Howle. I would regard his performance as one of the worst I have seen on screen. He plays a main character so unfortunately one can't really skip his bits. His 'Dutch' acshent shounds shilly but, moreover, he delivers every line as if suffering from severe constipation. Also, great fan of Tim McInnerny but I was 5 episodes in before I realised he was trying to affect an accent of some sort but he is a legend as so I can forgive him anything.
