Twilight (I) (2008)

Sexy
21 November 2008
While I agree that this isn't the best movie ever made, it is certainly one of the sexiest (at least where the characters remain clothed). The humor throughout made this an enjoyable/amusing movie. I also appreciate the effort made to stay true to the books. On countless occasions, I have read a book and loved it only to go see the movie and be very disappointed with how far it strays from the book's storyline. It's also very curious that the characters seem to speak, act and look the way I imagined them as I read the book. The effects aren't Matrix-like, however they get the point across. While I don't often read books about vampires and werewolves, I can honestly say that I enjoyed the books more - mostly because I can create my own "movie" in my head. If you want a movie with a sexy male character then go see this one - Edward Cullen is one hot vampire!

Hidden Places (2006 TV Movie)

Excellent for chick flick night
17 May 2008
I did a search on romance/drama movies and this was on the Hallmark channel. I've always liked Jason Gedrick (since Heavenly Kid :), so I figured I'd curl up Saturday night and watch (without much thought of getting enthralled in the story). I didn't realize I would enjoy it so much!!!! I remember Sydney Penny as the new Gidget and have always liked her, too. This is not a movie to critique writing styles, direction, etc. I usually enjoy movies that people criticize because movies are meant to be enjoyed - if you don't like it, deal with it and realize that just because you don't like it, doesn't mean everyone agrees with you. My suggestion about "Hidden Places" - Just watch the movie and get lost in the pain and joy that Eliza and her family go through and smile at the ending (you'll be able to even if you're crying tears of happiness :)

Four Brothers (2005)

Great Movie
9 August 2005
I just went to a preview screening of the movie. Based on the trailers I've seen, I was interested in it so I jumped at the chance to see it for free. I'm so glad I went! There was a lot of cursing and violence and a little sexual content (not a lot). I usually don't like a lot of violence, but the blend of funny lines with the violence took the edge off for me. Living and teaching in the city I do, I can really believe the dialog and violence portrayed in the movie. It's a movie that I'm going to pay to see when it's officially released. Some of the shoot-outs and situations seemed to be a bit overdone, but overall I really liked the film.

Radio (2003)

Great movie!!!
9 November 2003
This movie was the best roller coaster ride of emotions I've been on in a while. How does the old saying go? "You'll laugh, you'll cry". Wonderful movie. Cuba Gooding Jr. and Ed Harris do an excellent job of playing real people. It's so nice that other people who aren't teachers can experience the same feelings I do as a special education teacher. It's the students like Radio that make me go to work everyday because of the high level of care that the mentally disabled show towards others. I'll admit, I could love this movie because I am a teacher, but this is just a wonderfully emotional movie that draws you in from the beginning. There were a few times that I wanted to jump into the movie screen and smack around the father/son duo because of their (typical American) reaction to the disabled. I'd pay the full price to see this movie again and I will definitely own it on DVD. The strange thing is, after I saw the movie, the real Radio was on ESPN2 because he was honored at the Clemson/Florida State game. Radio is a true inspiration for us all to find the good in other people and to care about others no matter how badly the treat us. BRAVO!!!!!
