A Thursday (2022)
Be Safe, Be Human
The worldbuilding was engrossing and excellent. It took over as the main focus. The sound and camera work were intentionally unrefined. The cast were amazing with their brilliant acting skills. Yami Gautam's performance, especially in the climax scenes, was phenomenal. It was tough to lose sight of the screen. Neha Dhupia reminded me of Alicia Sierra from Money Heist. Atul Kulkarni's negotiation part was good. Finally, kudos to the direction for driving the emotional force of social sickness.
A Thursday is a spiritual sequel to a Wednesday. Like A Wednesday, there wasn't any notable production value here. But it's a guaranteed strike through the heart. Watch A Thursday, be safe and human.
The Lost Daughter (2021)
Stand for mothers before you speak abot motherhood!
"I saw you know a lot of languages."
"Well, I don't know anything very well. I also wasted a lot of time.""
We always glorify motherhood. It's worth it. But we often forget that motherhood has its consequences. We either try to overlook or ignore the effects of being a mother! On the journey, some mothers feel quite lonely. Raising a child is really a tough job. There are so many responsibilities! Have you read The Lost Daughter by Elena Ferrante? This film is based on this book.
I was totally lost in this film! The acting of Olivia Colman is so natural. Her each and every expression was lit. Dakota Johnson, Jessie Buckley, Paul Mescal ah! What a cast! This film was very thought provoking. First half was quite slow though. Still it was good enough. I guess this is life, actually. There's nothing about the right decision! Every decision has consequences in its own way. Every happiness comes with sacrifices. Wishing every mother good luck.
Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts (2022)
Harry Potter : The Ultimate Entertainment of Life
"There's something about Harry Potter that makes life richer. Like, when things get really dark and times are really hard, stories give us places we can go where we can rest and feel held."
"And I said, "Rupert, where's your assignment?" He says, "Well, uh, I thought that Ron wouldn't do it. So I didn't do it. Rupert is Ron. It's just Ron 100%. ""
"The legacy of the movies is, I suspect, that my children's generation will show them to their children. So you could be watching it in 50 years' time easily. I'll not be here, sadly, but Hagrid will be, yes. "
Watched Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts this evening. Watching behind the scenes and hearing the set stories is really fascinating because you get the chance to meet the cast being themselves. Can you even imagine Hermione having a crush on Draco Malfoy? I hated him so much both in books and movies! But today, when Emma told about this, I smiled. I realized that I love all of them. This 20th anniversary was a time machine ride back to emotions! I'm still wiping my tears!!
Encanto (2021)
We all are magical
"We're not just protecting what we have, but all that could be and everything that should be"__ (Encanto)
Finally, I watched Encanto. It is a one in a million film that will provide a mixture of emotions with perfect blending! The animation was superb. The theme and the total worldbuilding were fantastic. I loved the character development so much. And the soundtrack was so enchanting. I loved each and every song in this musical. They were so magical. I am pretty sure that I am going to listen to them again and again.
Have you watched Encanto? Who is your favourite madrigal? I was thinking about mine. Obviously, Mirabel came to my mind first. Then I realized love all of them: Abuela, Bruno, Isabela, Luisa, Dolores and even the kids on the street. It was a heartwarming watch.
Respect (2021)
Queen of voice
"Don't you ever sing the Queen's song when the queen is in front of you!" __ (RESPECT ,2021)
This musical bio-drama is a feel-good film. The concert scenes spiked up the emotion in a sec! Jennifer Hudson's acting was electrifying. On screen, she was the real Aretha Franklin! Her every single posture and gesture reminded me of Aretha Franklin. Actually, I should say that Jennifer Hudson was the show.
Respect is the true example of recognition of oneself in the vulnerability of life. The start was smooth, but in the middle it was little bit tiresome. Overall, it was a good go. You are going to be touched by this biopic. There are many things to know about Aretha Franklin. Life was pretty rude towards her. And yesss, this was an amazing tribute to the queen of soul.
Raya and the Last Dragon (2021)
Reunite the trust and let's live again
"It may feel impossible, but sometimes, you just have to take the first step, even before you are ready. "__ (Raya and the last dragon, 2021)
Once upon a time, Kumandra was just like heaven with all its people, plants, rivers, resources, and dragons. Then one day, a disaster came and changed everything in the worst way. It's affect divided Kumandra into five parts, where each of the parts hated another. At that time, Raya was born, and she worked to reunite Kumandra and restore peace there.
It was good to see the blending of Southeast Asian culture and mythology into the Disney world. All the characters, world building, and storytelling were strong and amazing in this old-fashioned animation. The fight scenes were wonderful as well. I love Raya and her gang work. In particular, the bond between Raya and the mighty sisu.
Watching animation is always a win-win situation for me. Most of the time, there's always a happy ending, which gives a mind-blowing start to the day!
Dhoop Ki Deewar (2021)
Heart over hatred
When the protagonists are soldiers, I try to look at their personal lives in the story. Soldiers give their lives for their country, but how many of them do we remember at the end of the day? How do we pay for their sacrifice? The government ends its duty with medals and some one-time money! And ordinary people remember the names of few in their discussion for some time. Then?
Dhoop Ki Deewar was genuinely an emotional drama. I loved the brilliant chemistry between the whole cast. After Alif, whenever I see Manzar Sehba, I sit down and prepare to watch something very good. I love Sajal Aly's soft, natural acting; especially her crying scenes. She herself is a show! And Ahad Raza Mir was perfectly into that character. The whole cast and their performances were just fantastic.
The script, dialogue, in fact, the whole idea was amazing. I won't say anything about the soundtrack. It was insanely soothing! But the whole drama was a little slow. Overall, this drama completely exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend it.
