Luther (2010)
3 episodes in and I'm really not sure!
Ok I should start off by saying that I'm just coming out of a 3-day Happy Valley binge session (stuck at home with Covid!) so my expectations are quite high!!
Now, Luther, I really don't know how to feel after watching 3 episodes. On some parts it has me glued to the TV, whereas others I lose interest and just see lots of unbelievable scenarios unfolding.
Also, a case in every episode feels a bit rushed to me as you don't get time to fully explore the characters before it's over. The nature of solving each case in each episode, I feel also has its flaws, for example, in S1 ep 3 when they are on the hunt for this missing woman and they make reference to a 'shred of light across a previous victims face' and from this, Luther is able to work out the latest victim is being held on a boat, and 30 in-show minutes later his partner has done all the detective work and they're at the boat - I'm sorry but I need more of a storyline.
I may carry on with a few more episodes, but I'm not overly convinced by what I've seen so far.
The Auschwitz Report (2021)
Dark, tense, horrible to watch but altogether brilliant.
Let me start by saying that I've watched a lot of war films and films about the concentration camps. However, not one has disturbed me as much as this film, I just couldn't stop the tears rolling down my cheeks as I was watching it.
More unbelievably is how the two Slovak men were not believed when they finally were able to shed light on the atrocities happening at Auschwitz, and it took a further several months before reports started to get published.
I would strongly advise everyone to watch this film so you can understand the appalling treatment of the Jewish people.
We must learn from history and certainly not forget it.
COBRA (2020)
I've watched it, and I've enjoyed it!
Maybe some of the other lower scoring reviews are right, maybe they're not? All I can say is that I thoroughly enjoyed this show. I also like the fact that it was only 6 episodes per series, so it didn't drag on forever. Worth a watch in my opinion.
Vigil (2021)
I fell asleep!
Me falling asleep never happens, but I couldn't get into this. I was hoping for awesome things as it came from the writers of LoD, but again it just didn't make a lot of sense from what I watched of it.
I also didn't realise military submarines popped up to the surface to pick up people 🤷♂️
Not sure whether to re-watch the first episode or give the rest a miss - I was genuinely looking forward to it as well!
