I Came By (2022)
I tried to love it, but nope. Everyone is stupid in this film.
I don't konw why there are so many positive reviews about this film. From my opinion, this movie is incoherent.
The start is quite good and i thought there will be some morals in the plot, which could be some conflicts between self-actulization and reality.
It turned out that the writer don't know how to deliver it so he decided it to be a pure-thiller movie.
Besides, every characters in this movie are really stupid. There are so many ways to catch the bad guy, but everyone seems like to be hero. Those characters didn't think about consequences of their actions, didn't try another way to catch the bad guy, even the guy didn't know how to tell his girlfriend (fiancee) the story didn't have any impact to their relationship so he decided to sacrifice their marriage.
At first i really like the build-up, now i really hate it.
Phantasm: Ravager (2016)
Phantasm had potential to become unique franchise, but the finale wasted it.
There are still so many questions not solved through 4 decades like what's the ability of tallman ? Who is tallman? What is his purpose to chase Reggie and Mike ?
The answer of those questions could become really large universe of Phantasm, but im really disappointed that director just wanted to leave this questions behind and kept new story line going divergently.
Well, i think there still could be some cool spin-off films of Phantasm. Never said never !
Tides (2021)
Should be a really good movie, but plot won't work out
The cinematography, the cg and the concept are really good, i will give them 8 out of 10, but the plot just minus 3 stars.
There are so many plot holes the makes this movie doesn't make any sense.
If there is a someone who can speak English in the tribe, why won't the protagonist ask them something ? Or Why didn't that English-speaking indigenous one just tell her what happened on the earth?
If the protagonist want to stop the information transmit back to kepler, why she just jumped on that bad guy after he transmitted it ?
Oh, and at the end, i don't even know the protagonist want to stop it or not....
The position of the protagonist just went back and forward that makes the whole movie really confusing....
So much potential here, but the writer ruined it.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Great casting, bad story and character developments.
The casting are great....but wow the story and characters developing are so disappointing.
At first i thought it will be a advocacy movie about veterans/PTSD, but it seems like at the end the writer decided to turn it into pure action/alien sci-fi movie.
The gap between advocacy and pure entertainment is so obvious that becomes distracting. I think this sudden genre changing also makes the character development broken. Characters in first half of the movie shows more emotions, but the last half of it they just want to have some fun...
This movie is a disappointment.
The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017)
Just good atmosphere won't make a great movie, plot and story will.
It's a classical atmosphere A24 gives to audience: weird, disturbing, myth-like plot. Unfortunately, this time plot doesn't work out like Midsommar or Saint Maud. Which makes a serious flaw : lacking the weights of character, which therefore makes audiences really hard to be empathetic for each of them, no matter it is protagonist or antagonist.
All characters in this film are separated from normal logical/emotional responses like that "us" will do. It makes me hard to make any connection to those characters. I does not understand any thoughts/decides they made....
This "LACKING" problem make the film hollow, only disturbing, non-sense dialogue remains.
Sorry i don't understand why everyone gives it so much high praise. For me, It only deserve 2 stars.
Kadaver (2020)
Good concept, bad writing. Too many plotholes and inconsistency.
The concept is so fascinating that hooking me to the end but there are so many plotholes bothering me.
For example, why are they taking down the paint and finding no hidden door but after several scenes are is a hidden door ?
Another example is that there is peephole on the paint but the father didn't find it even touched it.
The biggest plot flaw is that at the end Leo leaded every audience to the kitchen to find out what they ate was human meat. How the audience suddenly found out that is not part of the play but real deal?
The movie can be way much better if the writer knows what they are doing.
The Millionaire Tour (2012)
A lot of serious plot holes for a robber/thriller
I don't understand why so many reviewer praise this movie. Yes, the twists are good, but they cannot justify the illogical plot.
You create a protagonist who is good at understanding people, read human behaviors well, but he himself wont seek for help in public place ? Even wont shot out for help? It is obvious that robber do not hold a gun in his hand and protagonist choose not to run?
I really want to like this movie but the serious plot holes haunted me all along. The movie shouldn't be rated around 6 stars. I think 3 is a fair score.
