Sugar Rush (2018)
Candace Nelson is so annoying
The show is ok and enjoyable for the most part, but.....
Did you ever have a teacher or a boss or someone in your church who could find something wrong with whatever you did, but somehow told you in such a way that made you want to rip your ears off? That is the co-judge, Candace Nelson. She makes the show difficult to watch. I do not necessarily think she's wrong in her assessments, but sometimes she comes across like she invented baking, and how dare the peon contestants come on her show and try to make something that would show her up. She talks down to contestants as if she was the owner of some multimillion dollar corporation with a million employees, but in reality she isnt well known at all. Getting rid of her would go a long way to making the show better.
I would also say she needs to tone down her wardrobe choices. No one is watching the show to see her in a minidress with her cleavage hanging all over the table. It's a PG family show, and she needs to dress like it and not like she is going to a club.
Faith Like Potatoes (2006)
One of the worst faith-based movies ever
Full of emotional tripe and a whole lot of unBiblical themes, this movie was offensive and not worth the time. I do love a good redemption story and I have no issue with evangelism, but this story is just plain wrong from a Christian perspective and does not belong in the same category as ANY other faith-based production. The way this man talked about getting his inspiration to go abroad and preach smacked of emotionalism, and do not even get me started on the matter involving his nephew. He had a dream where his nephew gave him pardon for the unfortunate accident that took his life, which is complete junk. Do not watch this movie, especially with anyone who is a new believer or prone to emotional and not Biblical thinking.
15 Killings (2020)
Worst movie ever seen
The acting, sets, costumes.....all pretty much among the absolute worst I have ever witnessed. It made me uncomfortable to watch and it was not worth the effort. Go watch paint dry instead. Or watch a bum sleep under an overpass. Watching ants build an ant mound has more excitement and better action than this travesty. I would be ashamed to say I was affiliated with it. I am even embarrassed to say I watched half of it. I do not know who made it or why they thought it would be a good idea to use talentless actors and a junior high school level set to make a movie about a serial killer, but they missed the mark completely. Hire a forensic specialist while you're at it.
The Chosen: Unlawful (2021)
Good episode, VERY Bad Casting
The Good: The way Mary Magdalene carried herself throughout the episode, the beautiful way that Jesus responds to her....just wonderful to see and brought tears to my eyes.
The Bad: Whoever hired the actor to play David must have not researched the Bible. The actor is small, whiny, unimpressive, and comes across nothing like the way David was described in the Bible. Bad actor and bad acting!
The Chosen (2017)
So tired of the director
I dont have much to say against the show. I love it and I feel like it has made the Bible so much more real to me. I am just SICK TO DEATH of Dallas Jenkins, the creator and director of the show. He has a deep love of the sound of his own voice, and I feel like he is using this show to make himself a bigger star rather than using it share the gospel. I get that it is a crowdfunded show but he doesnt need to pop up every two weeks with a livestream to tell us why the next season is delayed or what he is doing. Save the energy and money for the SHOW. Stop promoting yourself and just go to work.
**Season 3 UPDATE**
So far, season 3 has been a huge disappointment. The show has added too many new, unnecessary faces, and also turned it into more of a tawdry soap opera instead of a series pointing people to Christ's life on earth. There are too many plot changes that dont really matter (like Zebedee's new business or the issues with Tamar's jewelry) and there is far too little Jesus in a show about.... Jesus. I am very disappointed thus far. Season 3 is a bust, in my opinion. They need to go back to the drawing board and start over. If I was to rate season 3, I would give it 2 out of 10 stars thus far.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
If you want STRANGE, you will be disappointed
I am a huge fan of Doctor Strange, and this was a shocking disappointment. For one, I am exhausted with the constant effort by the MCU to shove characters sexuality in my face. I dont care if they are gay or lesbian, so can we please stop hearing about it? Secondly, this was mostly about Wanda Maximoff and her powers, with Strange fighting her with a teen sidekick, who he doesnt need. I wanted to see Strange fight one of his own villains. This was disjointed and exhausting and not fun. I hope the third move will be better.
Moon Knight (2022)
Honestly struggling to enjoy the show
I know I am in the minority but I am just honestly struggling to understand and enjoy the show. I think the acting is superb and the special effects are top notch. Its the story itself that I am struggling with. Its way too convoluted and confusing. I feel like you need a PHD in Egyptian mythology to understand what is going on. As much as I can comprehend the mystical aspect of Doctor Strange, this one goes places with the spiritual realm that I find uncomfortable sometimes and just not much fun.
Christmas with the Chosen: The Messengers (2021)
Way too much music, not enough CHOSEN
I watched this from my home, and I am thankful I did not spend the money to see it in theaters. I wanted to see the Christmas story, thus I could have done with significantly less music. I dont watch the Chosen (or any show) for monologues and music videos. Over an hour of music was too much and I was bored. I fast forwarded to the actual episode....which was good but not great. I did find it too much about Mary and not as much about Jesus. All in all, I can see that they tried but they lost the true meaning of the gospel and I wont spend money on what was essentially a collection of music videos and monologues. Save that kind of entertainment for a church or school Christmas recital.
Tenet (2020)
Way too confusion and drawn out
This movie is so convoluted with a mixed up plot, confusing to the casual observer, and overall one of those that you're just waiting for it to end. You literally may have to watch it a dozen times for it to make sense and its not worth it. It has no star power and the climax doesnt make sense. Overall, regardless of the special effects, it is too confusing to bother with.
