Talk to Me (2022)
I lost interest 15 mins in
I'm not sure if I was watching the same movie that others describe as great and awesome. The premise is an old one but good one (if done correctly) but this was just lame and I lost interest quickly. There was no build up or anything to the "scares" and the scary atmosphere was non existent. It felt cheap and rushed and completely implausible (even for a horror film).
I found myself not caring at all what happened to the characters probably due to a lot of over acting and what seemed like forced interactions.
I was super excited to watch this movie given all the hype and positive reviews but seriously wasted $7 renting it.
Insidious: The Red Door (2023)
How did it receive an average of 5.5 stars?
Okay seriously people. I am a huge long time fan of the Insidious universe and as such was stoked to rent this. Big mistake- that $7 could have gone to something more useful like toe nail clippers. Who made this movie and then said "yup! Looks good! Let's release it to the public to spend their money on!".
In all seriousness it is incredibly boring, stupid, and has no jump scares or tension whatsoever. The acting is mediocre (overacting is a huge turn off and detracts from the story), it dragggssss while you are eating for something of note to happen. Last 10-15 mins of the movie is when the "scares" come and they aren't even that.
So all in all people, save yourself some hard earned money and go buy toe nail clippers instead (everyone always needs a spare)
Obsession (2023)
How does this average a 5 star review??
Clearly the writers have never felt any sense of desperate lust for another person as this was completely illogical and not how true obsessions with another person develop.
This serious is ridiculous! No lead up towards the "obsession", the female lead has zero interesting or redeeming qualities and comes across as suffering from severe psychotic illness or at least borderline personality disorder. Just insane. No interesting story, no actual chemistry, laughable dialogue.
I only made it through one episode (and only about half way at that).
Don't waste your time! I just wish we could find a series that is BELIEVABLE and RELATABLE- that's the only way an audience engages with the content.
Fatal Attraction (2023)
Fatal attraction = Failed Attention
So this show could not keep my interest and while watching found myself browsing on my phone a lot lol. You will too. The plot is familiar and timeless however the actual execution of the premise was like eating a bowl cold soggy oatmeal. The start of the affair was so rushed that we got to see no build up in this "Irresistible attraction" and it felt forced with obviously no chemistry between the lead actors. Then the scene where the femme fatale becomes a "scorned lover" 2 episodes in was flat and laughable.
Basically it's not believable, we end up not caring about the one dimensional characters, and one ends up spending their time googling and shopping for household items as the "drama" unfolds.
Was a no go for me.
Titanic II (2010)
You have got to be kidding
So I was looking for a B movie to watch on my day off and came across this on a feee streaming service (Tubi). After reading the reviews I just had to see how bad it was. You all were not kidding. It is BAD.. like the worst graphics I think I may have seen after the 1980s!
Okay seriously I'm pretty sure whoever made this film was NOT serious.. they couldn't have been serious. No WAY. This film is an exercise in trite cliches, terrible acting, awful "CGI". Like one reviewer note- the only way to watch this "film" is to view it as a comedy or spoof on a disaster movie.
IF the creators of this movie WERE seriously, they should seriously consider a career change lol
You have been warned! Xo.
Day of Disappearance (2022)
Some thought this was real?
Okay first off it would have had a higher rating if not for the annoying lead actor (yes this is an actor). It got to the point where I was just thinking "go ahead and get this guy, dark mysterious ominous force lol" The movie also spent too much time on showing his character prior to anything interesting happening (just fast forward those parts).
Other than that not bad. Had some good scares and some of the lead up was not bad. I myself love found footage horror so I may be impartial.
However, what I struggle to understand is how individuals believe this may be real. The lead up, the exact positioning of cameras to show the entity appearing, ect all clearly shows this is a MOVIE.
The Vet Life (2016)
It's probably just me
But when I sit down to watch a vet/animal show I actually and wanting to see.. animals. This show is cute but it seems over half of the content is focused on the people and families of those who work in the vet clinic. Im sure this is great for those who want to see animals in a vet context and also want to watch a lot of personal time of the vets themselves. For me I find myself just continuing to skip parts where the vets are eating with family, going out to dinner, going to the hospital, talking about themselves, ect
It totally could just be more but if you are looking to watch a vet show which primary showcases vet cases of animals then maybe look elsewhere.
Crawl (2019)
It's a mixed bag
Some decent scares but I had to pause the movie just to write that the script is hilarious
-girl trying to save dad from man-eating crocodile and in a life or death moment they are discussing their past and working through past conflicts haha
Like "oh wait you might die with that big crocodile right there but let's pause to discuss our issues"
Seriously whoever wrote this was high at the time lol.
Some good fright scenes the the reasonable logical decision making process for these characters is zero. Also during life or death moments the characters feel it's also the time to crack jokes and be sarcastic
I know people won't be watching this for the plot or acting but there should be a BASE LEVEL of believability.
Heartstopper (2022)
Watch this! You won't regret it
Full disclosure I'm queer but even if I wasn't it still absolutely amazing. Funny, real, and takes you back to when you were a teen and the intensity of first loves. Good integration of current social topics of gender and identity without being over the top. Such a great show :)
Bridgerton (2020)
Review only for season 2
Season 1 was great.
Season 2 is as follows: I love you, I hate you, you love me, you hate me, we can't be together, we must be together, we love each other but can't be together, let's get married, let's not get married, it's your fault I love you.... no joke 8 episodes of that lol.
Snow Wolf Family and Me (2014)
If only the host stopped talking
Would have been a great series if the host of this series focused more on the wolves instead of his constant need to be filmed talking about himself and what he thinks.
Title should be "me, me, me, and some wolves"
Lol.
The Deep House (2021)
Only made it half through
So I literally stopped this movie half way through due to the character dialogue. You will see for yourself if you decide to watch it. It is beyond superficial and the main characters "witty" comments are on par of a 5 year old. I was too distracted at the annoying characters to continue.
Ma (2019)
Don't get the 7/10 ratings
I have no idea how someone can put this movie as a 7 or 8 out of 10? Did I miss incredible acting and story line here? Like where was that? Lol
I would say skip it.
I Know What You Did Last Summer (2021)
I was super excited...
Was stoked to watch this series as I remember being a teen and watching the movies. But holy no. Just no. One dimensional characters that as much as one tries, can't seem to care about. Dialog is superficial to say the least.
My 8th grade drama class could have banged this out better lol.
Modern Love (2019)
Only reviewing Season 2
Firstly season 1 was much more engaging than season 2.
Season two lacked any authentic depth in characters and I found it difficult to remain engaged in the episodes.
There were much too many overstated/cliche scenes and characters were very 1 dimensional.
Disappointing as after watching season 1 was really looking forward to season 2.
Trauma (2018)
Don't waste your time
If I could give 0 stars I would. It's so rare but can not find any redeeming qualities in this series.
The fathers character is so outlandishly unbelievable as to how he reacts and the steps he takes. He is like a 2 year old throwing a tantrum at a doctor who tried to save his sons life. I had to stop part way through episode 2.
Please do yourself a favour and save yourself the waste of time.
Your Honor (2020)
It was good but for some far reaching points
I did enjoy this series however the plot twists at times became somewhat unbelievable. It had good drama, story, interest but at times was a bit far reaching in believability. Not a bad watch though.
City on a Hill (2019)
Kevin Bacon is soooo good
This is my first time Ever writing a review and just had to say how brilliant Kevin Bacon is in this series. I grew up watching some of his movies and this is the first time in a Long time I have seen him in anything. His acting and portal of his character are BRILLIANT.
