Would You Rather (2012)
A softer version of Saw
I love movies with themes of torture and this is no exception.
The acting was excellent, especially from Robin Taylor, Enver, and Jeffrey Combs. Robin Taylor, in particular, played the role of the obnoxious character who gets under your skin far too well. He deserves more roles like this.
The movie was highly predictable for the most part such as Travis being whipped to death, Lucas dying in the middle of his speech and, of course, Iris being the winner.
What I didn't expect was Barden and Conway being shot dead and Raleigh dying in the end. Raleigh's death was, of course, karma for Iris's selfish decision for taking an innocent life for another.
It wasn't as gory compared to the Saw franchise but that's okay. It would've been better if one of the characters, preferably Amy, remaining psychopathic throughout the entire movie e.g. Not flinching at any of the torturous decisions. She played well the character of a selfish bitch.
What would've made this movie a 10/10 is if we got a brief backstory on why each other players were there. It would've made the audience connect to certain players more so than others.
Overall, Would You Rather is an entertaining watch. It's a softer version of the Saw franchise but, in my opinion, still worth a watch. Definitely do not regret watching this.
Evil Dead Rise (2023)
Seen better
I've seen better horror movies. Not a fan of paranormal; more of a slasher type. But I give everything a chance.
EDR had poor acting. The family didn't express being terrified or disgusted when witnessing Ellie turn into an unhinged demon. The cast really need to work on their facial expressions. Alyssa's acting was the least appalling.
The script was unrealistic and poorly written. Too many silences, no screaming or yelling or excruciating pain sounds from the characters when they were being hurt or about to. But the comment Ellie made, at the door, about Beth being a groupie was hilarious.
EDR simply didn't give me a break. There was one terrible event happening swiftly after the other before Ellie's demon.
The beginning of the movie, however, was a good start.
Vivarium (2019)
Eerie & Dystopian
If you're into dystopia, this movie is for you. There's nothing particularly fascinating about this movie so don't expect much and the characters are very, unsurprisingly, limited because the couple are stuck in a maze like neighbourhood where all the houses are exactly the same with no neighbours. I like the concept and I wish the couple were liberated in the end and found a way out. The couple lacked chemistry and it's odd how they called each other by their first name but not names like 'darling' or 'baby'. Gemma didn't bring Tom to bed when he was sleeping in the ditch he was digging. I wish that was the case. The script in the beginning could have been more realistic. Neither of them pointed out the eeriness of the houses all being the exact same. Only pointing out Martin is strange. I don't know what the message of the movie is but I like it either way. Definitely worth a watch.
Separation (2021)
Not good
This movie is better off being a drama than a so-called horror. It's not scary at all. More suspenseful. The acting is poor from Rupert Friend, as handsome as he is. There's a lot of plot holes to the movie. The dad doesn't seem fazed when he sees demon Maggie in the surveillance camera and doesn't even search Jenny's room when he goes there. Almost as if he completely forgot what he saw. I think this film could have been so much better if it was non-paranormal and just about the dad and Jenny's life after Maggie's death. Something like Jenny's trauma from her mother's death causes her to see monsters like the flexible clown. The 'horror' genre was just not applicable. And demon Maggie looked like a knock off Billy the Puppet. No offence.
On the bright side, I really liked the flexible clown in the dream, however. It was well made and creepy.
Don't watch this movie expecting jumpscares or something scary.
Terrifier (2016)
Disturbingly entertaining
There's quite a few plot holes in the movie such as Art being knocked by Tara when she managed to escape but she grabs a knife and stabs him only once in the back. She could've easily stabbed him in the neck as he was down and ended it all. There were many occasions where Art could've been killed but no common sense from the characters. The gore, violence & acting of Art was the best part of the movie. It was still an entertaining movie to watch. Many scenes were predictable such as Art getting into Dawn's car and Art still being alive at the end of the movie. I recommend for anyone without the faint of heart.
91 Days (2016)
Unexpected ending
Fast paced anime which I didn't like. A lot of violence which I liked. Unsatisfying ending. I was hoping Angelo would finally shoot Nero and Vincent dead. Very ambiguous ending.

Mixed feelings
Don't get me wrong, the storyline of the movie is great. But the main female characters - Nari and Boksoon - their personalities really put me off. I feel 75% of this movie with the girls in it was just them crying and screaming...Boksoon is even worse, maybe her brain is underdeveloped because she acts extremely childish. The girls lacked basic common sense in the movie - another thing that put me off. For example, when they were in Seoul and Nari left to get food for Boksoon in an alley, they got into an argument and starting crying and screaming very loud; they are fully aware there is a maniac on the loose that wants to slaughter them and they don't bother thinking that maybe they should be quiet and argue softly?? Weird. Even if they were scared and nervous, they behaved very unrealistically. Another part is that Nari had a chance to escape from the restaurant as Taesoo was beating his family up, yet she chose to stay there. In the start of the film, she escaped at his house so why not at the restaurant? There's also the part where Nari runs straight to his house after seeing Taesoo's car approaching...didn't she think that maybe he would see her in broad daylight? The girls basically seemed extremely careless as if they don't care that a maniac is going to kill them. There are quite a few plot holes in the movie so I'm not gonna list each and every single one of them because there's no point, but they are what pisses me off. There are also questions I have like: why did Taesoo still stay in contact and even give his mother money after she abused him, according to him? In conclusion, I liked the movie but it could definitely use some improvements. The plot holes are a bummer. The acting was great, on the bright side - especially Minki's.

Touching but lacking
Shoot Me in the Heart is a great movie with a touching story. The acting here is great, especially Yoo Jingoo's. I liked Seungmin's character a lot - humorous and resolute. I like how they sneaked in the author of the original novel - Jeong Yujeong in the ending. Though, I kind of wish she had some dialogue.
However, this movie could use some improvements. I would have given it at least a 7/10 if the chemistry between Seungmin and Soomyung was much stronger. There were scenes whereby Soomyung seemed unbothered about Seungmin, like when Seungmin was blind and tripped over a couple of times - Soomyung didn't get up and try to help his pal. Another part where Seungmin was running in the corridors, got caught, then beaten and Soomyung simply watched expressionless - no reaction. If his reactions to his friend being in pain was emphasised, this movie would have moved the audience even more. In the end, when Seungmin hugged Soomyung I was quite relieved: I really wanted a hugging scene throughout the whole movie to strengthen that bond between them. Furthermore, the ending was pretty sad; I wish it didn't have to end like that. It's still a good movie but some parts were pretty disappointing.
