XO, Kitty (2023)
Bad acting, forced story
It was all super predictable, the acting was mediocre to really bad for certain characters. Kitty having feelings for Yuri was too forced towards the end. Yuri and Juliana's continuation of reconciliation would've felt more in place with the backstory. The acting for a lot of the characters; especially, kitty was poor and looked super fake. Good casting though, nice concept of the boarding school and overall included unique personalities. One of the best actors in this show was Q - it didn't seem forced and looked a lot more natural. Overall, 2/10 - didn't love the story, acting and Kitty's character was a bit overbearing.
Love Island USA (2019)
Season 3 was probably the worst
Compared to the UK version, this show's editing is HORRIBLE. The american version tries to create drama out of conversations and put in certain narratives in viewer's heads. While you can only show parts of their days, they try so hard to make people out to be their worst selves. The finale was the worst finale I have ever watched from all the UK seasons and all the US seasons combined. Given that such a large number of people were shocked at the end results, the american version could at least be transparent about the vote counts. The whole season felt fake, scripted and unnatural.
The Great Canadian Baking Show (2017)
Loved this show, binge-watched UNTIL season 3.
I couldn't even finish the 3rd season, the hosts are SO forced and cringe. Love the show itself but the hosts are so unfunny and do NOT fit into this role. I'm sure they may fit well for other shows - but the jokes and sketches don't work here.
The Final Table (2018)
Inaccurate judgement and lack of diversity
My two main problems are surrounding the way this was judged and the diversity of countries involved.
Firstly, why are non-chef individuals with a lack of culinary background judging each round? Aside from a multitude of bias, there's no concrete accuracy to any of their judgements. Looks unprofessional and seems surprising that a large-scale show like this is organized in this way.
Secondly, the diversity of countries is so lacking. There was an obvious repetitiveness of countries from the same continent. What about Africa and souther countries? Seems a little US-centric to me and doesn't help that the winner was also an American, the only one with the least risky and unoriginal dish choice (despite judges emphasizing the want for an original, risky dish). The finale was surprising to me, but maybe that's just me.
