Murder Mubarak (2024)
Ordinary
Ordinary plot, ordinary dialogues, beaten to death characters trying to be funny which are everything else but funny, ensemble of bolly-wood socialites playing socialites, confused storytelling not being sure whether want to be a comedy, suspense, satire or what, just typical increasingly getting more crowded space of Netflix India pulp fiction and trying to sell by putting known bolly-wood actors actresses together, only saving grace is Pankaj Tripathi but with bad dialogues..
Talent doesn't guarantee quality and these kind of netflix flix are more of self-indulgence than art. Hard to understand why talented artists make such movies knowing fully well, it is so ordinary.
Killer Soup (2024)
One needs patience to watch this series... plenty of patience
Another series from India which is becoming a trend, a Bollywood equivalent of Indian OTT series, with typical elements of quirky characters played by good actors/actresses, swearing laden dialogues, twists and turns which stop raising curiosity after the 2/3rd twists, and try to lace the series with dark humor throughout.
The formula's individual elements sound interesting but it doesn't work just by mixing all of these together and hoping it makes an interesting watch. It doesn't. It becomes as bland as the paya soup shown in the series.
The fundamental elements of movie making, a good story, a good script, meaningful elements of humor etc. Etc., basically the ART part of movie making, cant be created through formula.
This is another OTT series, which even if you watch the entire series, which by the way will need enormous patience, you will forget about it in another week's time. Definitely worth a miss for any intelligent viewer, even for casual watch.
Regarding story, acting, or anything else nothing worth a mention, quite pedestrian overall.
Twisted Metal (2023)
Why Road?
First episode and 10 mins in, you start to wonder but why not use Helicopter and other flying stuff to deliver? Why car and road? Just to make a TV Series?
Way too many convenient plot holes to make it interesting beyond 2 episodes. When a dystopian state of the world is created, it has to cover all basic premises right to make it believable. Else, you have to watch it like a sitcom, more for situational fun, and not for the story.
The series seems to be lacking in both aspects to make it worth your while. Best thing about the series probably is that after 2 episodes, you get how interesting the series is going to be, and you can leave without investing more, or vice versa.
Bawaal (2023)
Nothing Movie
From story to acting to dialogue, it is a complete whitewash. Good that it is on OTT, so that you can watch it by fast forwarding and finish in 15-20 mins. Just out of casual curiosity, you can fast forward and watch the last 15 mins or so to see how protagonist changes (change he will, that is obvious after you watch the first 5 mins of the movie).
Spoiler alert - After doing a Europe tour DDLJ style, just bringing World War II events as a change agent for the protagonist is lame and outright superficial nonsense. I mean it could have been anything, there are so many sad things all around us, you can show anything with some melodrama as a change agent for someone. We see misery in our everyday life, from homeless to poor to child labour to many things in our own backyard. And this guy has to go to Europe to see war memorials to find himself.
Why Bollywood wastes so much of money for NOTHING movies? At times doing nothing is better than making such movies.
Dahaad (2023)
Real Deal
Amongst many ordinary thriller web-series and movies with known star-casts, it is rare to get a true edge-of-the-seat thriller series that stands-out.
Dahaad is one of the rare good ones.
Surprised to see the low rating and reflects probably more on who all have watched thus far.
Whether casting, story, pace, dialogues or filming, all are top-notch and you will be pleasantly surprised when you finish the series. More importantly, it is not one of those stupid series which ends season 1 with many unanswered questions.
Good one for binge-watch and then feel satisfied that u did. Hope to see season 2 getting made and being in the similar league of Family Man.
Jubilee (2023)
Not up to mark
Period dramas first of all need to get one thing right, the "feel of the era" in make up, costume, dialogues, sets. The attention for details makes it feel real or fake depending on which side the movie or series leans toward. This one fails miserbaly on all these fronts of dialogues, costumes, make ups. Other than digitally created sets, there are too many modern day elements for u to really get engaged. Just one of many examples, Ram Kapoor's character's expletive laden dialogues are equivalent of mirzapur characters'. 1947 feels like 2020 UP or Mumbai underbelly. Couldnt go beyond first episode as could't get engaged at all.
Delhi Crime (2019)
season 2 - very average
While there is a level of production quality (better than some other hindi netflix products) still it ends up as a very average series where focus is more on making the characters act v serious and focus on their side stories rather than details of the main plot of solving the crime. The story itself fizzles out after a point. Many plot holes make one feel that probably the viewer himself could have solved the case faster than these average witted policemen shown in the show. At the end of the series it feels like a family drama and shows as if delhi police are very hard working but not smart.
Didnt watch season 1 as it couldnt hold the interest beyond the 1st episode. Season 2 - story itself is little flimsy. Loopholes in the plot where police can find many more clues and work smartly which are even possible for the viewer (e.g. - cc tv footage itself shows gender of the culprits - a big clue, stupidity of police like if they get a solid intel and link to the culprit's home, they will most likely do survailance and catch the culprit not round-up family members and question and so on and on)
A Model Family (2022)
Bad story
Stopped after watching initial 15/20 mins as the premise on which the story is built looks ridiculous. I mean, why will someone implicate oneself more and more in someone else's crime leaving common sense out of the window. Take the money, wipe your finger prints and run. That's it. But no, there is a series to be made so, create a illogical premise and then I am sure more illogical stuff to follow.
Tehran (2020)
Good plot but rest falls short
Too many coincidences and plot loopholes spoil other-wise a very interesting plot and story.
For a starter, a Mossad agent is sent without a fake passport to cover her identity? For that, she has to depend on a local guy to help her? Similar unbelievable loopholes mar the entire series (I watched till episode 4 or 5 and then lost interest).
Secondly, too many coincidences to make it real or believable. Again for a starter, 2 last minute passengers, one of which bumps into the protagonist in washroom whom she knows from her past, and then she speaks about her aloud to be recorded. Really? And then again, while carrying out espionage, she is visible from the door, and at the exact moment her boss comes to see her, and also her co-worker is smoking to see him coming to meet her, and then later the boss's body is placed in a location which is visited by cleaning service guy just about then at middle of the night. Ha Ha. Bad luck has never struck anyone so severely as our protagonist.
The list can go on, even before 5 episode.
Positives - fast paced and good plot and feels real even with the plot holes.
Clickbait (2021)
Spoiler alert - most illogical series ever
After reaching the end, u will break your head at the most illogical, stupid, patched-up ending ever in TV history. This series deserved to be made in yahoo chat days and not for today.
