Jeanne du Barry (2023)
CONGATULATIONS, MAIWENN!
Jeanne Du Barry was SPECTACULAR!!! I experienced a range of emotions from happy to sad, heartwarming to heartbroken, surprised to annoyance, laughter to tears. I especially loved the way Jeanne brought life and spontaneity into the King's heavily ordered and boring life. She was literally a breath of fresh air for not only the King, but for La Borde and the entire place as well. I LOVED! LOVED! LOVED! This movie and will see it again. I strongly recommend those who have an opportunity to see it, do so. I give it two thumbs up for Maiwenn, Johnny Depp, Benjamin Lavernhe, the cast, crew, and all involved!
City of Lies (2018)
This Movie WOWed Me !!!
I just got back from watching and all I can say is, WOW! What an indictment against the LAPD. I can see why they didn't want it to come out. City Of Lies has is a lot of things - intense, intriguing, funny insightful, suspenseful and eye-opening. It induces up a range of emotions from curiosity, disbelief, lightheartedness, to feelings of betrayal, hopelessness, helplessness, missed opportunities, resignation, deep loss, and sadness. WOW!
Johnny Depp and Forrest Whitaker were fantastic! WOW! I loved how they transformed into their characters, particularly Johnny who played the much older, discredited, snickered about, retired detective. And a KUDOS to Ms. Wallace who appeared as herself! WOW!!!
I now can understand why the original title for this movie, as is the book, was LAbyrinth. The level of corruption and cover up is incredulous and scary! WOW! This is the kind of movie I love to watch multiple times because there is so much going on.
I am glad City of Lies was released. Perhaps it will be the impetus to finally solving the murders of Mr. Tupac Shakur and Mr. Christopher Wallace. May they RIP.
