Meg 2: The Trench (2023)
Heavy of the Fiction, light on the Science.
A Middle School Play about sharks My twelve year old could write a better sequel. I usually allow for a bit of movie logic, but this isn't charming enough. At the bottom of the trench, there is about 8 tons of pressure. Things like walking from another station in a suit would take hours (longer than any air supply) and rising to the surface quickly would be fatal. Most actors don't realize how bad a movie is going to be during the process of filming. Jason Statham's acting is a bright spot in a dull movie. Most of the action is preposterous. The dialogue is horrible. Despite this, the last 10 minutes are somewhat entertaining.
Jungle Beat: The Movie (2020)
Wonderful graphics, a decent story but poor characters
The animation and imagery are excellent. The problem is, most of the characters are forgettable. Well, maybe not that, but most are 'borrowed' from established films. (Madagascar?) There are a great, many animated movies that can entertain the entire family. This is not one of them. Young children might find humour in a good many scenes The story is nice and heartwarming. Many of the voice actors are great, but they lack chemistry together. A valiant effort, but falls short of the standard set by Pixar et al.
