Un héroe llamado José (1998)
An excellent short film, plenty of suspense, violence and black humor
An excellent short film, plenty of suspense, violence and black humor. This one of the first short film of Jorge Olguin who made in the university and was exhibitors by the national television. Filmed with crude a Black&white, the film shows as an inexpert thief produces headaches in his companions, committing to error more error, until everything explodes in violence, stupid and uncontrolled. But attention! here the violence is crude, remembers a little to "Fargo" and "Simple Plan". Very but very realistic. Everything is filmed within one single location, has moments of much tension thanks to the wonderful work of camera and the actors.
El reo Jesús (1998)
Extremely realistic & violent , Brilliant !!!
It's one of the best Chilean short film. Extremely realistic, violent and with a disquieting atmosphere. The work of the actors is brilliant, are actors, but really they seem criminals, is casting exceptional. The handling of the camera and dark atmosphere them are very realistic, seems a documentary filmed in 16mm, but the suspense very obtained, shows to us that it is a fiction. It is a short film of low budget, but from his beginning you discover that it is not a simple history, has one of the beginnings extremely more violent than I have seen in the cinema. Shows all the injustice and violence of low worlds of the third world. Imperdible!
Ángel Negro (2000)
Excellent new blood for new a terror!!
It's the first film of Jorge Olguin when he was a student of cinema in the university, with a budget of 25 thousand dollars managed to make this feature of terror, that is first in Chile. The plot is very similar to films of assassins with adolescents, very similar to the films like Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Urban Legend, etc
But the interesting thing, is that in spite of his ultra-lowbudget, it has much atmosphere and it is looked like films of Dario Argento. Without a doubt, Angel Negro, is plus "giallo" that slasher. The scenes filmed in B/N are formidable. It is a film violent and very melancholic, has a spirit very twisted, in spite of his low-budget, is filmed elegant, without a doubt it is an excellent new blood for new a terror!!
Sangre Eterna (2002)
Gothic and violence!!!
It is a film of low budget, but its Gothic and dark atmosphere is very well obtained. It hurts the lack of money, nevertheless, Gore is very effective. Sangre Eterna(eternal blood) mixture two situations, the fantasy, where the protagonists soon play like vampires and the horror, when the protagonists really discover vampires. The intention is obtained, although the plot becomes something slow, but their better moments are very attractive. Without a doubt this film is better than many other films of vampires of Hollywood. The film is elegant, remembers the style of Dario Argento and has much of psychological horror. Soundtrack is incredible, pure Gothic rock in Spanish!
