The Office (2005)
One of the greatest live action TV comedies ever and better then the British version.
I watched the original BBC's The Office before the U.S. one was cast or made. I really didn't understand a lot of the humor or the language most likely because I grew up in the U.S.
When the U.S. version of The Office first premiered I was excited because I had always wanted a version that I could understand. The first season and the first few episodes of the second season are very similar to the British version of The Office. But then it takes a twist and focuses on a few different plot lines that the British version never really elaborated on. And then, when the 2nd American season was coming to a close, they made a broad statement by announcing a 3rd season and maybe even more to come. At that point, the U.S. version of The Office had gone way beyond anything that the British had done (no offense).
In the U.S. version, Michael Scott is incredibly moronic and yet fantastic. Unlike the British, the U.S. version actually combines and covers most of the stories of the other employees in the office at Dunder Mifflin. This is something that I always thought was lacking in the British version.
If you haven't seen the American version of The Office yet or even if you've seen every episode, be very careful where you go to look for information on the new version of The Office. I found out things about season 4 that I really wish I had not read.
Big Trouble in Little China (1986)
No other movie satisfies a rainy-day afternoon like this one.
No other movie satisfies a rainy-day afternoon like this one. Big Trouble in Little China is the r0xx0rz. John Carpenter and Kurt Russell together again (I don't know what it is about that combination, but they have some great movies with John Carpenter directing Kurt Russell: Escape from New York/L.A., The Thing, etc). Kim Cattrall doesn't get naked and her acting was so horrible the first time I saw it, but every time I watch Big Trouble in Little China again, I think she gets better and better.
Once you get over the "cheap" quality of the movie, it'll be one of the most memorable movie experiences that you have ever had.
Basically, it's the best B action movie ever made.
