Money Honey (2020)
I want more money honey
Money Honey is an excellent Short film that is very relevant today as we suffer through poverty, house crisis, financial crisis, cost of living etc. But we see it more through the eyes of kids who found $20. This film ticks many amazing boxes from great acting, great, videography, great editing and ultimately a great story. I truly this story should be told, especially to Sociology students in universities. What I love is it still gives a good sense of New Zealand in this film. It is well deserving of the winner of the first Nga Whanaunga Maori Pasifika Shorts Best Film Award. I hope to see more work from this director in the future.
Punch (2022)
New Zealand Boxing needs this Film
Punch is a nice film that is really needed in today for New Zealand Boxing which currently battles Homophobia and toxic masculinity. Jordan Oosterhof who plays the boxer has obviously done well to maintain his fitness for the film but the true star of this movie is Conan Hayes. The writing with Conan Hayes was great and you can tell he did amazing job with is with portraying a gay teenage Maori boy in a small town who sells his body to make money.
Negatives
One major problem i had is the lack of trigger warning before seeing the film for the rape scene in the movie. On the technical side of things, you can tell the film makers did not get a boxing consultant, advisor or an expert for the little things that make a major difference eg, lack of weigh in scene, officials not wearing the right attire, glove size, weight division has the lead did not look like he was a welterweight. The lead of the film who plays a 17 year old turning pro is also wouldnt be allowed in modern times, however if he was 18 it would be. On top of that I can tell that the film makers didn't involve the New Zealand LGBT Boxers in the film which also would have been a big difference, especially New Zealand boxing gay judge. The ending felt a bit incomplete. On top of that the Jordan Oosterhof character had a hobby making music videos was editing a video at the end of the film of Conan Hayes using footage from earlier in the film during which Conan Hayes character was alone right before he got raped, on a technical side was a big screw up and a bit out of taste.
Positives
The composition of the music was great. The story telling was great. Boxing really played a minor part of the film where the friendship between these two characters were really the main focus of the film. It also addresses issues still affecting LGBT community today especially in small towns and in the sport of boxing. The story behind the two main characters were great and effective.
Overall the movie was nice but had a lot of technical issues especially in the boxing part.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Most underrated film of 2022
This is one of the most random movies I have ever seen but yet i believe it is also one of the best and most underrated films out there. With many films over the last 5 years are creating stories on multiverse theory, this film puts it own take on it. Not only does it bring a diverse cast but everyone's acting is on point. It brings a mixture of drama, comedy, action on what I like to describe as spider man meets the matrix meets terminater. There is a lot of growth in this film especially with cross generational difference of opinion which leads to acceptance. I highly suggest everyone watch this film.
What's What with Benji Watt: Whats Watt - David Light announcement, Justis Huni vs Kiki Toa Leutele, Recent Results (2022)
Something a bit a miss
Today was a bit off then usual. The host was a bit more mumbling, there was no background music, no sound affects and the visual was off. Sound was good and material was good with this fountain of knowledge but overall it was just an off feeling.
What's What with Benji Watt: What's Watt - Willis meehan results, Alex Hanan return and announcements (2022)
Short and sweet
This is one of the the shortest episodes so far. However the show was weirdly cut in editing and seems some stuff is missing then usual. Sound is good and so is visual.
What's What with Benji Watt: BoxRec's New Scoring Feature allows fight fans to score fights on the platform (2022)

A bit off today
It seems that it was a bit off today. Little bit awkward moments. Sound and camera were a bit off. Even the host himself was a bit off. Maybe need to take a break and come back the next week with fresher talking. Edits were a bit rough.
What's What with Benji Watt: Whats Watt - Patrick Mailata wins fight in Utah, Willis Meehan returns March 5, Tyson Turner's fight (2022)
Improvement is good
Despite the sound is quieter and using a webcam which wasn't the best. Overall there has been some improvement to the episode which delivered some more entertaining moments.
What's What with Benji Watt: Whats Watt - Benji Isolating, Patrick Mailata & Junior Fa return, Parker leaves Matchroom, Mea Motu (2022)
Back to behind the laptop
Its unfortunate that they had to be back behind the laptop again. Quality of video is down and so is the sound. However it was a smaller episode and the content is great. It was very informative and great to learn more.

And they are back
It is nice to see the old team back together again. Of course it is weird to not see the co host in front of the camera but it still great to see them back. Benji is back to his usual stuff and it is smaller episodes too. Also great to see interviews in the show.

Nice way to wrap up the new year
Last episode and it was nice. Weird filter but good camera and good sound. The content was great. The show wasn't too long this time round. Its a shame it will be a couple of years till it starts again.
What's What with Benji Watt: WWWBW7 (2019)

Something must be in the air or maybe the change in sceneries, but this is the best episode so far. Amazing look in the background, great sound and video, content was great, everything was right.

Nominations but boring
In this episode the content was a bit lacking. Yes it was important to announce the nominations, however it was just too long and boring. Sound and video was good though.

What's What with Benji Watt: What's What with Benji Watt - Episode 3 Halloween Special NZ Boxing News (2019)
Ben the solo
Here is the beginning of the Ben and produce josh duo. It is weird not having the co host in camera but still Camera and sound are amazing. The show is a little long, the sound effects are cheesy but always entertaining and informative.
What's What with Benji Watt: What's What with Benji Watt - Episode 2 #NZBoxingNews (2019)
Two weeks on a good run
Consistency is key and for second episode in a row that we have good sound, good video, good conversation between the guest and the host. It is very silly with the sound effects but hey its entertaining.
What's What with Benji Watt: What's What with Benji Watt - Episode 1 #NZBoxingNews (2019)
A new Season a new look
So much improvements. Better sound, a lot better video. The host and the guest works very well together with their banter. Yes there is cheap sound effects and intro but hey it still entertaining.
What's What with Benji Watt: Episode 4 - What's What with Benji Watt feat Tommy Watt from T2T Boxing (2018)
Improvements thanks to the guest
The quality is usual with poor sound and video, however the new guest has made things a little more interesting. Conversations were nice and the content is still informative.
What's What with Benji Watt: Episode 3: What's What with Benji Watt feat Isaac Savage (2018)
Improved but not by much
Same problems as before with poor sound and video. The energy seemed a little bit low. However, this time round it seem the guest was more interested in the topics and as always the topics are still interesting.
What's What with Benji Watt: Episode 2 - What's What with Benji Watt - NZ Boxing News feat Isaac Savage (2018)
Informative but lacking
Similar as before, sound and video was poor and the show was too long. However, the show is still very informative and very interesting. However this episode seems a bit more cringe as the guest got disinterested in a topic or two.
What's What with Benji Watt: What's What with Benji Watt (2019)
Never to be seen again
Unfortunately the episode had been completely deleted and never to be seen again. Which is sad because it was one of the best episodes that were ever produced. Best Quality of filming and the best content they ever produced. It is unfortunate this episode will never be seen again.
What's What with Benji Watt: Episode 1 - What's What with Benji Watt - NZ Boxing Recap feat. Kendall Cooper (2018)
Beginning but long
The beginning of the show which isn't too bad but the camera quality is poor, sound is poor and the show is too long. The information however is very interesting and the conversation between everyone flowed nicely and it looked everyone were in enjoying themselves.
Gladrap New Zealand Boxing Awards 2019 (2019)
We all hate an awards show
Honestly out of all the Whats what with Benji Watt episodes, this is probably the best they ever did. You can tell how much time and effort they put into this. Again with no budget, no money being return, just a complete hobby. They went the extra mile with music, weird costume change and special guests throughout the show. Some People might think it was rigged but who cares it was a weird show.
What's What with Benji Watt (2018)
You get what you paid for which is nothing.
With something that has no budget, that is filmed from their own home and get no income in return, its not tooooo bad. This will let you know what is happening in the New Zealand boxing community today and make you aware what New Zealand boxers are doing across the world. It can be educational about New Zealand boxing that you had no idea about. Yes it can be cringe, yes it can be cheesy and sometimes a bit bland. But even at its most cringy moment and cheesy moment it is still entertaining. The long the show goes the better it gets.
