The Neighborhood (2018)
No Laughs
I tried so hard to like this "comedy", but it seems to just be a very bland rehash of a seen-it-before mess. I think I gave season 1 a fair shot. I watched it the whole way through and felt weird that I didn't laugh once. Not once. I heard good things about it so I was exited going into it and just ended up getting let down. Maybe I thought season 2 would be better so I gave that a shot only to be let down....again! Hear me out, I'll watch it if it's on (and sometimes I forget about it to be honest) however I definitely wouldn't seek it out or recommend it to anyone. This show (as harsh as it may seem) is best enjoyed as background noise as you play on your phone, do laundry or cook food.
The only real reason I'm giving it 4 stars is beacause of Beth Behrs (most known as playing Caroline in 2 Broke Girls) because she deserves better than this awful, laugh-track CBS sitcom. It's almost as if she was so desperate to find work after 2BG got cancelled that she literally said yes to the first thing she was offered. Not a good sign.
Anyways, I wouldn't waste my time. There are way better comedies out their than the trainwreck that is "The Neighborhood".
Dollface (2019)
Something Special
Watching "Dollface" is like living in an alternate universe where Shay Mitchell is funny, Kat Dennings can act (she absolutely nails Jules), Brenda Song isn't just London Tipton, Esther Povitsky shows off her terrific timing and delivery chops and where Macaulay Culkin may or may not be the Panera Bread Bowl Killer. The cast did phenomenal in their respective roles and I hope to enjoy more seasons of this fresh and hilarious comedy.
