Comedy Central Presents: Todd Barry (1999)
Hilarious Comic Genius
I recently listened to this show. It was an audio version, so there may have been visual elements that were lost. However, I have seen Todd in person and he is not the type of comic who jumps all over the stage. He has a dry, witty sense of humor. He speaks at a "Medium Energy" (name of his CD) and that is just what I love about his style. You'll never think of Ramada Inns in the same way again.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Wonderful
After seeing the midnight showing at the Cinerama in Seattle, I wanted more. I cannot say what it was that took this film over the top other than the brilliance of Tolkien. He created a world that has been fantastically adapted to the big screen. Elijah Wood surprised me as a very believable Frodo. Humor avoided being cheesey. The score, including 2 Enya pieces were moving. Liv Tyler and Kate Blanchet were enchanting. Action sequences told stories. Story is really what its all about, and in this trilogy, the story has only just begun.
