You Hurt My Feelings (2023)
Snooze Fest
I don't normally get the urge to get up and walk out of a movie, but this one tempted me.
The premise behind the story seemed like it would be interesting and funny - the fact that we often lie to people in order to be supportive rather than telling the truth. The story, though, had too much fluff and not much going on frankly, except jumping between boring scenes and endless, tedious conversations between friends. There was no "passion" behind the thought or the theme - only stiff characters talking endlessly about not stupid things like socks. I didn't laugh once.
The only thing I did enjoy was seeing Tobias Mezies in a role that brought out a lighter version of his personality.
If you must see it, wait until it streams somewhere. At least if you want to walk out, you can just hit STOP and go to the kitchen for a snack.
Sanditon: Episode #3.1 (2023)
Wonderful Season!!!
Having binge-watched the entire season last night on PBS Passport, I can say with the deepest admiration possible that Season 3 of Sanditon was everything we hoped for and far more. The continuation of Charlotte's and Georgiana's journey as young women in this finished Jane Austen story would have made her proud. Justin Young and the co-writers have outdone themselves. Season 3 outpaced and outshined Season 2. The acting by Rose Williams and Ben Lloyd-Hughes is fantastic - gutwrenching and heartbreaking at times but also filled the eventual joy bursting at the seams at the end of the show. The chemistry between the two is off the charts. Georgiania's story arc comes to a satisfying ending. Other characters have heart-touching journeys as well in search of love that will engage your interest until the end. I will miss every cast member who poured their soul into their performances. Thanks to PBS Masterpiece and all involved for bringing an absolutely wonderful conclusion to Sanditon. It will make you laugh, smile, scream at your television screen, cause you to jump out of your seat, and leave you a sobbing emotional mess at the end. It's well worth five stars and much, much more. Bravo.
