The Wheel of Time (2021)
Square Peg in a Round Hole...
Square Peg in a Round Hole...
I'm devoted to the existing characters of the book series too much to go past episode 5. What a huge disappointment that episode was. I just can't stay with it any more. The characters for Lan as well Perrin, Rand, Elaine, and funny Matt from the books are completely different. Only the characters portrayed as Moiraine and Nynaeve are close to that of the books. And the real men that the book series portrays as warders to the Aes Sedai would never act the way they did in Episode 5. But perhaps WOKEness of this day cannot handle the true masculinity of men from days past? The acting is decent and sometimes very good but the writing, plot and story line seem so short compared to that of the books or other similar epic fantasies.
And without being a book fan, the whole series is disjointed. My wife who has never read the books constantly gets lost, in all the episodes thus far, 1 through 5. If it wasn't for me filling in the holes, she probably would have given up after episode 2. You practically need a guide book on the side to fill in all the missing holes this lousy portrayal of one of the best fantasy book series ever written. Perhaps that is what this is all about and Amazon was willing to risk this piece of rubbish in order to sell more books? They did, after all, start out as a book company, right?
And why the heck are these guys trying to make this like GOT? I remember before the first three episodes aired the press declaring this was Amazon's answer to Jeff Bezos insisting on their version of GOT. You just can't put a square peg in a round hole. It doesn't fit! And that is exactly what happened with this series. Therefore, I can't waste any more time with my eyeballs in front of this series. Tis a shame too. I'm such a WOT fan but with the added WOKE and GOT wannabe writing attempts I just can't handle it!
The Green Knight (2021)
Reminiscent of Pocahontas.
This was so slow I couldn't get past the interlude. "Kill me now" is all I could think. Made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Did get a good nap in though...
Dolly Parton's Heartstrings: These Old Bones (2019)
"These Old Bones" - Very heart-warming and well worth the watch!
I rarely take the time to write a review anything I watch but this episode is worth the time. It touched my heart. And not only was the storyline very believable and sincere, but also the acting and directing was excellent. It is something I truly want to share with others and will.
Well done!
Countdown: Jerusalem (2009)
Hard to Follow - no plot, very little words.
This movie is very hard to follow. The plot is so hard to follow that you don't know what is going on most of the time. Very few words are actually spoken and you find yourself trying to guess what is going on. I'm a Christian and I know a lot about the Bible and what they are trying to tell. At least the Left-Behind movies have a great plot. if you want to see a good movie about the "End-Times" watch those movies.
The acting wasn't bad at all, except for the lead character (this may have been the due to bad direction). The cinematography was not bad, either. Music is good. It's just such a bad plot and/or direction that you never know what's going on! One phrase in the movie says: "You need to connect the dots." For some reason, the makers behind this movie expect the viewers to connect the dots. I'm sorry, that should not be our job! if I wasn't a Christian, I wouldn't have a clue about what this movie is trying to say! Bad movie, don't wast your time on this!
