Hawkeye (2021)

Don't listen to the haters!
23 May 2022
I don't get all the hateful reviews. This was easily the most entertaining of the Marvel Disney+ series. Most of the other Marvel shows on Disney+ were very slow for long periods of time, but I was immediately drawn into the story of Hawkeye and his young protégé from the first episode. The mix of humor and action was perfect and the casting was excellent. It was also refreshing to watch a Marvel product with a storyline that didn't revolve around the world is ending, which I find lazy storytelling.

Give it a chance and I think most will enjoy it.

A Great-Emotional Movie! Please ignore the haters.
23 January 2019
I was cautious about going to see this movie initially based on some of the negative reviews. However, I'm so glad I ignored the reviews. I'll admit I haven't seen the documentary, but the movie was a great docu-drama with lots of different emotional elements. At some points my blood boiled over the sexism that RBG had to endure, but at other times I weeped with positive emotions. I also thought Felicity did a great job in her portrayal, although I understand the idea that the role should have been cast with an American actress. Regardless, this was one of the better movies that I've seen over the past few months so I would highly recommend it. Also, the movie is not political as some of the reviews have stated unless you have an issue with equal rights.

The Smurfs (2011)

Much better than the reviews!
31 July 2011
I just watched The Smurfs with my wife, my 10 year old son, and my 5 year old daughter and we all enjoyed the movie very much. I had promised to take my kids to see this after seeing the first preview several months ago and I was concerned with the poor ratings on IMDb and poor critic reviews. However, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at how good the film was. It had a good story line and was much funnier than I expected.

The live characters were cast very well with Hank Azaria playing a perfect Gargamel and the smurf voices were good as well, especially Jonathan Winters as Papa Smurf and Katy Perry as Smurfette (my daughter's favorite).

Bottom line, if you have small children or you were a fan of the cartoon growing up, you will enjoy this film.

Coyote Ugly (2000)

Best Movie of the Summer!!
7 August 2000
I'm sure many of you will disagree with me ranking this as the best movie of the summer, but considering the competition its no contest. I have seen MI2, The Perfect Storm, Chicken Run, What Lies Beneath, etc... and none of them left me feeling as satisfied as Coyote Ugly. I have not seen Gladiator yet so I will not comment on it, but the majority of the summer movies I've seen this year made me wish I had stayed home. Yet Coyote Ugly had it all. A beautiful cast (both male and female), a story line you actually believe could happen, and a great soundtrack. The audience laughed, cried, and for the first time this year the audience cheered at the end. This is not Shakespeare by any means and it is not Showgirls either (sorry guys). However, if you just want to have a good time at the movies I highly recommend Coyote Ugly.
