Laziest Movie Award of 2019
29 December 2019
This movie is universally panned for being to long and bad or no editing and I agree. I watched the whole thing and was bored like everybody else and I like Gibson and Vaughn. Halfway through the movie I realized there was no soundtrack to help propel the scenes AND there was no camera movement. Viewers that hate the shaky-cam style of film-making should love this one. Every scene, and I mean every one, the camera was just set up stationary and the only action came from the movement of the actors. Even the car/driving scenes are done with a stationary camera. No panning, tilting, tracking, zooming camera work of any type. This adds to the boredom of the viewer. Anybody with a cellphone can be more creative than this director and cinemaphotographer. I would only recommend this movie to anybody that wants to see how NOT to make a movie. I thought Gibson and Vaughn would have had better judgement than to get involved with a project or director like this.

The Avengers (2012)

Action without character is CRAP - quote Sam Peckinpah
1 June 2012
And that is exactly what we have with The Avengers. Sam Peckinpah, the master director of mayhem, action, and blood-letting who broke down these Hollywood barriers in film over forty years ago recognized the necessity of character development for any action to have emotional meaning. As technically well-done as the Avengers is in all the action sequences, it lacks any human emotional qualities. Nobody but the most simple-minded that like mindless explosions and destruction will find any interest in this movie. A MOVIE is simple entertainment that will not past the test of time. A FILM is a work of art with quality and intelligence that will endure through the years. The Avengers is a 2-1/2 hour movie.
