The Godfather Part III (1990)
It Isn't THAT bad! (minor spoilers- i think)
The fact that people always state- oh godfather part 3 , that was bad, all because of sofia coppola- is wrong. Ok, shes not the best actor in the world nor is she the worst.
Anyway- the story is good, it shows that Michael must try to live his life knowing of what he has done. Its more about redemption of him, for him knowing the fact that HE 'killed' his brother.
This movie is good. Vastly over-rated, ok its not as good as part 1 or 2, but that is down to the fact that those two films along with the shawshank redemption are the best films ever made! On its own it's a great movie but as a Godfather movie it's only good. This is because mainly of the people who couldn't work on this picture. For example if Robert Duvall was in it as Tom Hagen, the picture would have been a lot better. And if Winona Ryder was in it as she should have been, then it would have been much better.
However, they are not (sadly), but we still have a great movie. A fitting end in my opinion to the greatest story of all time. And thats what the 3 films are together as a story.
Saving Private Ryan (1998)
Its good but like U-571 something is missing....
I thought that saving private ryan was a really good film and it should have won the best picture oscar. But one thing gets on my nerves with Hollywood world war 2 movies.
For people who didnt know BRITAN AND FRANCE WERE ALSO IN THE WAR AND WON THE WAR AGAINST GERMANY WITH AMERICA! America did not do it all alone as many brits and french soldiers died on the Normandy beaches along with the Americans. Same as U-571, as the British also got the code machines. Plus i just want to say this now- all British people dont speak with a nice posh accent, in fact about 90% of the population don't! I just want to see a Hollywood picture with a normal Englishman, not a stupid posh one oh and I would also like to actually see some Englishmen in World War movies.
Anyway, back to the movie, it is very good. I've actually been to those places were they are set and I believed that they were actually filmed there! Acting was superb and as in all Speilberg's films the directing was top notch.
So it was good film but would have been better if the English were credited with the beach invation because my Grandad did it and I don't see any record on this film (visually) about the risks that the Brits took as well as the Americans.
Overall 9/10.
Biloxi Blues (1988)
Ho Yes! Ho NO! HO NOTHING!
Well I'm disappointed. :-( This film deserves much more than a 6.6 rating! If you watch Brighton Beach Memoires you will love this film. Personally the 1st film was better but maybe because I could relate to a younger Jerome. But this film, oh yes! Christopher Walken you are my GOD! He is so funny in this film in my view! The way he makes the wise-cracking Jerome (Broderick) and fellow NY boy Epstein (Corey) is great. Ok he is a nut but that is Walken- he would be the worst Army officer I would want! Great film- the scene with the 'escort' is great! "You're not breathing! Breathe!" Unbelievable! It is also heart-warming and I love it! Overall I must give it a 8.5/10. Give it a try dont let the 6.6 rating fool you! HO NO!
Wayne's World (1992)
LIVE IN THE NOW!
This film is an absolute classic! I can't believe that its got a small average, it should be at least 7.6 or in my view 10.0!!! The lines are absolutly 'excellent' or 'sang!'. Like a classic one "asphinctersayswhat" or "If Benjamin were an ice cream flavor, he'd be pralines and dick.".
Myers and Carvey are brilliant and very funny, from the "Bohemian Rhapsody" scene to the guitar seen "it will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine" with Garth answering "you'll never afford it! LIVE IN THE NOW!".
I could quote all day here but there is a quotes page "exsqueeze me? a baking powder?" yes there is! This site is cool by the way!
Anway back to the film, Tia Carrere is brilliant and SeXy "swinggg", plus Rob Lowe is great as the high flyer Benjamin. The cameos from Alice Cooper, Chris Farley (R.I.P), Meat Loaf, Robert Patrick (in a very very funny T2 skit)and of course the very weird but funny Ed O'Neil "I'd never done a crazy thing in my life before that night. Why is it that if a man kills another man in battle it's called heroic, yet if he kills a man in the heat of passion it's called murder."! Classic!
But of course the MAJOR stars are Mike Myers and Dana Carvey and you can see why this film was a hit and why the sequel is a good film for a sequel. I would love to see a Wayne's World 3 but Ive been wanting that for nearly 9 years now! i dont think it will happen. Many people say Myers is funnier in Austin Powers "Way" but hes not, this is fresh and great with great wit and great lines, with a great story which Austin 2 did lack.
Finally i would like to end with my favorite Wayne quotes "cha! and monkey's will fly out of my butt", and after receiving his gun-rack from his 'girlfriend' Stacy "I don't even own *a* gun, let alone many guns that would necessitate an entire rack. What am I gonna do with a gun rack?... (which is followed by)... "We broke up! Are you mental?" Absolute genius comedy.
So as you guessed I LOVE this film -way and I give it a 10/10!!!
Jurassic Park III (2001)
Fantasico!!
I went to see this film after being dazzlled by the 1st film, quite satisfied with the sequel and entertained with the books. So i thought, i'll go and see it cos i have to and i left the cinema pretty satifised as JP3 has brought back the dinosaur magic evident in JP but not in da Lost World.
We start off , in my opiion quite slowly BUT it goes on and your almost running to catch up, which in my opoin is good as you don't get held back by the story.
In my opinion the cast do a good job, it was nice to see Alan Grant back again as he (Sam Neil) was brilliant in JP he brought geniune fear, something which I think jeff goldblum (or Ian Malcom) lacked in Lost World as he played a laid back scientist.
Anyway, back to JP3, and as expected the graphics were superb! The raptors didnt look all the same as they did in the other 2 films but this time they are like Michael Crichton described them in the books. With the tiger-like strips on the back.
Overall i think JP3 will surprise a few movie-goers and if u enjoyed the other 2 you will love this!!! This gets a CourtSta rating of 9 out of 10!!!
Brighton Beach Memoirs (1986)
Who's gonna get blamed for the war in europe?
Brilliant! Eugene is just like any 15 year old boy. Silverman comes out with some very funny lines with his mother : 'Theres a bone in my throat' 'THERE ARE NO BONES IN LOVER!' And when they are sat at the table at dinner Voice over-'The tension was so tense i would of cut my wrists but the liver had blunted the knifes'
So if you haven't seen this film go and see right now.
Go and search for and see the golden palace in the himalayes!
