Gojira ni-sen mireniamu (1999)
Don't mess with Japan - They've got Godzilla!
8/20/2000: I'm talking of course about Godzilla 2000. I saw the American version - didn't like it. Godzilla isn't a dinosaur - he's an icon. This version of Godzilla was perfect - it's the Godzilla I grew up with and although they added a few modern special effects, the Japanese didn't stray too far from the old effects of the classic originals. This is what made it good. I recognized this Godzilla! The story wasn't the best in the world I have to admit, but it reminded me of the 50's version. They used computers more in this one which goes right along with the computer age we're living in and of course there is always the hero.
If you're into nostalgia, this movie is for you!

Deceiver (1997)
Michael Rooker walked away with this movie (in my opinion)
This was definitely a psychological thriller - mind games were bountiful throughout the movie. I was especially impressed by Michael Rooker's acting in this movie as Kennisaw. There were times when I thought he was going to have a brain aneurysm because he was so tense. I also liked the way the camera shots were made (movements, etc.). But most surprising was the ending! Nothing was as it seemed. Braxton (Chris Penn) was equally as surprising. I must say Rooker has my sympathy.
Deadly Invasion: The Killer Bee Nightmare (1995)
Could have used a little work...
The movie, Deadly Invasion: The Killer Bee Nightmare lacked a lot in the way of entertainment. That is unless you really like bees, which I don't. The bees seemed more intelligent than the main characters which is your first clue of where the movie is headed. If the purpose of this movie was to raise my awareness of the migration of Killer Bees or to alert the viewer of the danger, it fell much too short. I wasn't frightened at all nor alarmed in the least little bit. <yawn>
The only thing I can say about the movie is the actors did the best they could with what they had. Dennis Christopher (Beauchamp) was the only colorful character on the show but he appeared for only a few minutes and his prophecies of doom were totally rushed over and ignored. Dennis Christopher presented yet another wonderful performance in a movie unworthy of his talents. Too bad they didn't feature the film around Beauchamp instead of the local residents - DC might have been able to save it.
Other than that you can be grateful at least that the spoiled boys got what they deserved in the end.
Most favored quote of the movie: Dennis Christopher calling the waitress Darlin' with a bit of southern drawl.
Profiler (1996)
PROFILER: Best show NBC has!
While surfing the TV for something other than repeats of my favorite shows, I discovered Profiler and HAD to add it to my list. Now I don't miss it! I love all the actors/actresses on the show but my absolute favorite is DENNIS CHRISTOPHER who plays Jack of All Trades with PETER FRECHETTE (George Fraley) coming a close second. This show offers one of the rare instances where you just can't hate the bad guy - yes, he's really bad but DC plays him so well that he wins you over. The last time this happened was seeing Tommy Lee Jones in Under Siege. When an actor can do that - he's good!
I just wish they'd show more background on the supporting cast rather than the lead - Ally Walker (Samantha Waters).
