For Real (2003)
good movie
I had never heard of the movie until I saw it on TV One a couple of weeks ago. it's been playing every weekend. I liked it, seeing how it tells of a rags to riches story. the only thing that bothered me some was the sex scene between Tim Reid's character and the 18 year old girl. It's not their ages that got to me, it's this: 1) Tim Reid was on Sister Sister. You see him more as a fatherly figure these days than anything else. 2) Tim Reid reminds me of my father. he looks remarkably like him. I can't stomach that scene cuz that's like watching my dad...uggggh! I can't understand why anyone would write that in. He seemed to calm down a bit as far as the sexuality between them near the end. He seemed to be more of a fatherly-type after the teen's aunt passes away.
Captain EO (1986)
Michael Jackson came to change my world
I saw Captain EO on MTV in June of 1995 (exactly 8 years ago) a few months before I turned 13. it was MJTV week, and it was announced it would only be shown once and once only, so I taped it and made sure I got it from beginning to end. believe me, I was not going to miss a thing. My boyfriend now knows how much of a fan of MJJ I am. I own a piece of history. I never saw it at Epcot Center, but he saw it as a child. I'm holding on to this tape. maybe one day my children will see it and feel the energy I feel when watching MJJ dance and sing. this is truly for the Michael Joseph Jackson fan and for those who are just getting into him.
Anger Management (2003)
rest in peace lynne thigpen
I have never seen anger management. I just wanted to point out (becuz I don't know if anyone else has yet) that this was lynne thigpen's final movie credit before her untimely passing in march of this year. She was remembered in an episode of The District, so I hope she was as well in Anger Management, considering the movie premiered nearly a month after she passed away. I think I speak for all Lynne Thigpen fans when I say:
Rest In Peace, Ella Mae Farmer (The District)
(1948-2003)
Frankenweenie (1984)
scared the dickens out of me
I saw this film when I was 11 (1993), and it freaked me out when I saw it. Seeing Barrett Oliver (Neverending Story) bring his dog to life after the dog died seriously tore me apart becuz at the time I had a dog myself and was close to him like Victor Frankenstein was close to his dog. The whole thing seemed so disturbing to me, but now it just seems like a classic. Even though it came out when I was 2.
Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century (1999)
confusing, yet intriguing
I'm familiar with Sherlock Holmes, although I have never actually read anything revolving around it. However, I am quite confused about why Holmes was cryogenecally frozen and the only part of watson that was saved was his head. I saw the program this morning, and I had no idea as to why they made it so. it made no sense. Was Watson in some accident that destroyed his human form that caused scientists to create a cybernetic body for him, and saved his head since that was the only part that could be used? that is my only explanation, but I have no clue. What became of Sherlock that caused him to be frozen? was that explained in the pilot episode or not? this whole program confuses me. perhaps a movie will be made to explain much of this. that would be interesting.
Die unendliche Geschichte III: Rettung aus Phantasien (1994)
this movie should not have even existed!
Ya wanna know what made this movie go down the turlet? THE LACK OF CREATIVITY!!!! 1)Atreyu was not in this movie. But then again, had he been in this movie, his dignity would have not been seen in this film, whereas in others, you could tell this man had a sense of humor, but dignified as well. 2) Falkor was Drunk. The way he was flying, the way he was acting. You'd think he hit a pub on the way over. He said "Excuse me ma'am" to an airplane. One has to be drunk in order to do that lol 3) The Childlike Empress was stupid! "In all my years as an Empress, it never occurred to me to go to the mall"...oh, come on now...her dignity went fluuush! right down the john. NES 1 and 2 had much more imagination, good music, great acting, great characters, great plot, great everything!!! NES 3 has..well..dead trees walking..they got nada people!
